I have a 300 watt submersible aquarium heater. I filled up an empty pine sol bottle with water and am using this. I didnt put it into the top cause the heater needs to fit in tlted to be fully submerged. anyways, its only changed the temp in my aquarium by 1 degree within the hour...Whats going on? I know the terrarium cannot be too big for this 300 watt heater.

Patience Patience Patience Patience Its gonna work just give it 12 to 24 hours.
1. I would use a milk jug or something, OR atleast tape around the top to seal it off.
2. Put a blankey around the whole thing, ESPECIALLY a sleeping bag if you have one. They work wonders, sorta like insulation to a house.
3. I love my heat bombs.

Oh so it takes a while. Well i had to use the pine sol bottle case it was the only thing that it would fit in. It has a line at the top where it says "Minimum water level".
Does covering the top of the bottle make it work better/faster?

The water will evaporate, and if your not constantly keeping an eye on ot it could turn into a big problem. If the water line falls below the line on the heater, the possiblity of overheating and a fire is there. I put a silicone sealant on top, then duct taped it to make sure (1) no water escapes and (2) it doesnt get spilled. Be careful when using heaters of any type. GL!

I put it in a small zepherhills drinking water container. I think its like 16 quarts. It fits perfectly and has a cap so i can turn this into a good heat bomb to keep for future use.

If this is hijacking this thread, I will delete my post . . . but I have a question.
Would using a glass bottle (like a 40 ounce beer bottle) work better than a plastic bottle?

damn my heat bomb is still not heating the terrarium. I feel the bottle getting warmer but at an extremely low rate. errr. Im going to forget about it and look at it in the morning. I didnt think it would take this long for this 300 watt heater to heat up the damn terrarium.

Is youre terrarium a aquarium? tit have a much better radiation of heat then a heat bomb i would say. Although alot of people DO have luck with them, I don't thin kthere rated as the best source of heat.
Maybe you wanna build a TiT terrarium?
