non lyrical electro?
    #5184388 - 01/15/06 05:35 PM (18 years, 2 months ago)

is there any electro out there that doesnt have the cheasy vocals on them?

i got some songs and liked the sound but cant take the lyrics/voices.

leaether strip and le syndicat have been my favorites so far.. but i think their songs would be 10x better without the lyrics.

OOOOOOO god yes my friend, yes is the answer.

you must listen to non lyrical music to understand. IMO for the electronica genre, althought I do have some lyrical songs I like. Its so much greater without lyrics. Its music where the mind can wander and the music carries you. The music is so deep, one second your mezmorized over a sound or riff in the psy trance, then youve had the best idea of your life. Psy trance is so much more than music, its a way of life.

Listen to some of these

Pelinpala-keep the faith, or dance like a tree
Safi Connection-Experimental dose
Astral projection-Dancing Galaxy
Shpongle-Behind closed eye lids
even stuff like Tripswitch-Deer park. IMO thats melodic psy
1200 micrograms-Salvia divonorium
Nystagamus-Ananda
Talpa-Freebeereligion

If you want some sweet up ambient

Mystical Sun-Waters of life
Shpongle-Shpongle falls, I love that one

man, the genre psy is so wide, you can spend forever listening in marvel if you can grasp it. Look into psy trance, give it a chance. Se how you like it. I think you would, since you seem like your giving electronica a try.

Good luck dood

O yea man, and for sure check out this song. its called "Daft Punk-Emotion"

In the song the guy is saying emotion for sure. It doesnt sounds like it does it? Man he actually is saying it, I have the song figured out. It just tricks you. Tell me what you think.

I feel the same way! Vocals have ruined so many songs. I will hear a sick song and I just know the vocals are about to come on and ruin everything. Then they start and I just start laughing!!

lol psytrance is nothing new to me  im actually listening to sandman's witchcraft right now..

i was talking about this stuff http://www.reference.com/browse/wiki/Electro_(music)

i see a long list of artists at the bottom, but if someone could just let me know which ones are more of what im looking for that would be great.  again im looking for darker songs with little or no vocals..

Well, there alot of nu-skool electro that doesnt have vocals (as a matter of fact, most modern electro doesnt)--but I think your referring to the oldskool electro. What time period are we reffering too here>

hmmm... is it the words themselves that bother you or just the vocals in general? 'Cause I'm thinking of some great music with rather minimal words, heavily vocoded or distorted. Check out the stuff that has been released on labels like bunker records, clone and viewlexx; specific artists such as Legowelt, Freak Electrique, I-F, porn.darsteller, Apparat

no real time period specifically..

i'll check out some of those releases, thanks champ.

and i think vocals can add a lot to a song, but once they start repeating over and over and OVER they can deffenitly take a lot away..

from the list on that wiki site, i've heard of: drexciya, ectomorph, & i-f. all of them are good.

also, i'd check out lowfish, & solvent if i was you. both are great electro artists (similar sounds) w/ not a lot of vocals.

Some electro/electro-influenced DJ sets.

Maht Caw - blizzahd

- This set has a mix of electro (lyrical and non-lyrical) and breaks.

01. felix da housecat feat. miss kittin - silver screen (fc kahuna remix)
02. atomic hooligan feat pavinda - head
03. ladytron - destroy everything you touch (tom neville remix)
04. overseer - horndog (dylan rhymes remix)
05. infusion - the careless kind (switch mix)
06. jinx - mindless drugs freak
07. alter ego - beat the bush (ewan pearsons slow nrg edit)
08. smithmonger - music (precision cuts remix)
09. volsoc - compuphonic (silicon scally remix)
10. friendly - bump and grind (santos remix)
11. alter ego - die tuba und der schneebesen
12. circuit breaker - life after death
13. silicon scally - orks of war
14. merka - hug a speaker
15. alter ego - phoenix 1.2

Art Offical - The View From Here - electro, but with more of a house feel to it. Mix of vocal/non-vocal, track list

Deutschland Bleiche Mutter-Der Plan
Beat the Bush-Alter Ego
Every Little Thing-Cajmere
Perfect-Princess Superstar
Phreakn' Dj HMC
Jaguar Car
Hustle and Survive-Paul Woolford
Washing Up-Tomas Andersson
Melody-D Felice
Drug Queen-Duoteque
Bob O'Lean-Aloud
Im in Love-Audio Bullys
I'll Do Anything-High Caliber
The Teacher-Da fresh
Bang Bang-Audio Bullys
Superstar-Boese Welt
Knockout-Cirez D
Shes a bitch-Peakafeller
Dirt Life-Youngsters
Weekender-Pepe
Material Mode-Kiko

If you goto the root folder - there are a bunch of other mixes there from various DJs. I gave them a quick skim, most seem to lean to the side of house, but most certianly have an electro influence.

You also may want to check out The Hacker - Reves Mecaniques (link goes to a page with audio samples). Some really good tracks on that CD

You may also want to listen to some audio samples at Juno.co.uk breaks/electro and electroclash - while they are only short audio clips of songs, may be able to find some things that you like, and can then search around other stores/P2P sites/etc to find the full songs.

VitalVinyl is also a great site - and has full songs online to sample. Decks.de is also a great site.

May take some digging around to find what you like - but it's a good way to find whats new/just being released/top sellers/etc. Need to do some leg-work on your own and will need to shift through alot of crap you dont like, but can also come across stuff that you like.

I love Solvent and Lowfish, too, if you like them you should check out Bochum Welt if you don't already know him.
