Other than the Dead I'm new to downloading music, I have a new MP3 player and I'm looking for music from the 60's and 70's....Classic Rock
I have been using Limewire for the past day but they don't have everything im looking for.
Any suggestions on sites ?
Thanks

I never download any music anymore these days but most people seem to like using torrents...that still confuses me a bit tho.

Try not typing in everything when it comes to the song title and artist name. I find that using a keyword or two yields better results. Otherwise get an Oink invite (torrents). I'm looking for one myself.
Or try this:

If your computer savvy id look into using newsgroups and use nzbzone.com to find music. Its great for complete albums, there is new stuff posted everyday and the downloads all go a full steady speed as long as you have a good newgroup provider. Ive got 60 gigs of music now pretty much all from newsgroups and mostly classic rock.
To find more rare and specific songs i go to irc. Bit torrent is ok, but it annoys me to use anymore.
Avoid the other p2p progs id say :P.

I know how to plug in the computer, turn it on, type.......
And it ends there.....If something goes wrong I jiggle the wires as a first resort then call in my kids to fix things.
Simple is good, but i would love to be able to find complete albums!

I recommend Soulseek without a doubt for full albums, it has a bit of a learning curve but after you grab the wheel and settle in you'll adore it. I can't imagine using anything else.
Soulseek aside, RevConnect is great for larger files, games, movies, etc. Although it is hard to use if you don't know a lot about computers, the time invested on understanding how everything works is well spent.

If you have a decent isp that has a decent news server.
Download Grabit by Shemes(sp?) and use NZBzone to create yourself batch files to tell grabit where to get the cool music.
There are some other programs you might need like winrar and quickpar.

with your .. "limited" knowledge on the tech side, i shouldn't even say this, but DC++. if you have lots of media to share.. and i'm sure you have plenty of dead shit, you can get into DC++ hubs.. it's basically college kids sharingm assive amounts of media at high speeds. most downloads always peak around 190 kb/s and average ~150 for me..
soulseek is nice, great for full albums. ares is good, too.. good for the mroe popular singles and stuff. for all rare things, i'd reccomend either SLSK or dc++
u can get ares at www.aresgalaxy.org, slsk at www.slsknet.org, and dc++ at http://dcplusplus.sourceforge.net/

Soulseek is free, they do ask for donations on occasion though. When you donate you become a "privledged user." All this really means if that you don't have to wait in queue for as long and you recieve enhanced search results.

download ABC bit torrent client (can be found on download.com or through google) It is a simple interface, very user friendly, and you dont need a degree in astrophysics to use it.
Some good torrent sites: torrentbox.com isohunter.com mininova.org/com?
of course, my fav place (even though its live shows only) is archive.org
