im new plese help
    #5118322 - 12/29/05 09:36 AM (18 years, 3 months ago)

ok, so i followed the pf tek pretty closely and i think everything is going well. right now im waiting to see if my sterilized jars go bad to see if i did it right before i use up my limited spores.
i have an idea for my chamber but i wanted to run it by some people who actually who whats up.
i got this plastic bin with a lid. i was going to use a humidifier with rubber hoses attached to keep the humidity up in there.
thats it for my idea so far.
is that going to work?
also, any pointers or tips would be appreciated.
and maybe if someone knows a good place to order spores in syringes that would be cool too.
thanks.

Just use perlite for humidification. It will keep it where it needs to be and it's much easier.

No, they are different. Perlite will wick the moisture away into the air. Vermiculite simply absorbs it. You would have a soupy mess in your chamber, perfect for contams. You can't be even 1% lazy with this hobby or it will set you up for failure. Get the perlite. Patience is key.

our sponsors sell spores. you can order from ralster, sporeworks, thehawkeye, spores101, and many others. the chamber sounds ok although i don't use a humidifier. if you want a cheap and easy way to setup use a 3" layer of perlite with 1 and 1/2 inches of water and you won't have a humidity issue. try your jars out and let us know how it goes.

They'll all work the same. If it's volume you are concerned with make sure that you follow everything to a 'T' and keep all your parameters in check. PF Cakes are not the way to go if you're only concerned with volume. They're good to do at least once before you move on to more advanced techniques.
