Different Mycelium Growth in LC
    #5112405 - 12/27/05 06:24 PM (18 years, 2 months ago)

My PE LC is going strong...

Though I see it looks very different then the other one witch I think is B+ (I don't know...don't ask )

Pictures don't show it well...

This one...

is the unknown one...when agitated brakes up nicely in small cloudy strings

Now the PE look like vary small balls...

when agitated they brake up in to smaller balls...

But looks vary different.....

Is this what you would see in a petrie dish...Nice think ropey growth and or more stringy...but in the LC

I'll take pics when there more to see.......I was not aware that Mycelium growth could look so different... :crazy2:

here is a quick  VID

Yeah I will ...not worried about contaminates...it looks good.

It just looks SO different...I don't know what I am looking at...

I just checked on them, soon there should be enough to take a picture...

I might have read about this...but since it's the first time actually looking at it I am clueless

My South Americans came out that way as well. I truly believe that a lack of nutrients is the reason. I'm not a huge fan of the Karo tek, which that looks like to me. I have other liquid cultures going right now with malt extract and dextrose and it looks like a sea of clouds in there.

Was Karo syrup used for your nutrition?

Yes both are Karo....

Ok, now that is interesting...for what I call "balls" could be the result from lack of nutrition....but they are sill growing...more "balls"

I wonder if that is the case...did I goof on the measurements...

Thanks, that's food for thought

I don't know if you goofed on the measurements or not, but here is a pic of an LC at just 7 days after I scraped spores into it. This LC was done using the malt/dextrose mix.

The LC is currently 3 times as much now after a total of 14 days.

yeah that's nice....I guess I will make some malt/Dex up....and see the deference...I have everything just haven't used it yet...

I thought the Karo was doing good...but compared to that...

Any experience with Villa Extract...like this... LINK

I guess I might as well using the coffee maker I bought

I suppose vanilla extract might work, but it's far cheaper to use malt extract and dextrose. Keep it simple man.

I love the (PURE) vanilla extract personally. JMO I guess. 5 days from multispore knock up

^^well snaggle, Im glad to see im not the only one who likes Obscured by Clouds (my 2nd favorite album actually). lol, i think it's funny how all these 'hardcore pink floyd' fans have never heard of Obscured, or even Lavalee for that matter.

What a coincidence.. I'm having the exact same question right now. I knocked up some Karo with some cambo like 5-6 days ago and the jars look a lot like that. The growth is what I would call "chunky". I tried to upload some pics onto imageshack but it kept effin up for some reason.
...And also, I've got some B+ in karo as well which I knocked up two days ago and like lorbit said, it's like poofy balls. I was afraid that my B+ might have been contamed w/ mold or something, as it grew so quickly, but this makes me feel better. Hopefully it's just the different varieties of rhyzomorphic growth of mycelium among different strains.
