Canadian Liberals are losing it.
    #5111539 - 12/27/05 02:03 PM (18 years, 3 months ago)

TORONTO -- A high-ranking official within the Liberal Party of Canada resigned yesterday after he called NDP Leader Jack Layton an "a--hole" and compared Layton's wife Olivia Chow to a dog on his Internet blog.

Mike Klander, executive vice-president of the federal Liberal party's Ontario wing, stepped down after photographs of Chow, the NDP candidate for the Toronto riding of Trinity-Spadina, and a chow chow dog were posted on his blog dated Dec. 9 under the heading "Separated at Birth."

Those diverse, inclusive, tolerant, multicultural and compassionate Canadian liberals never fail to impress me.

Wow, so someone lost his temper and acted childish. Certainly no one who posts here would do such a thing.

Ah, the old  "Hasty Generalization".  Because one Canadian Liberal is losing it, ALL "Canadian Liberals are losing it"!   Does this logic apply to American conservatives as well?  Because I know this one American conservative who... blah, blah, blah  :stoned:

hey, remember two years ago when mark latham called john howard a dickhead in the australian campaign. the aussies rather liked it. latham also had the balls to smoke pot inside the parliament building after hours one night. i wish he had done it to make a statement, instead of just to smoke some pot and hope he wouldnt get caught.

I see nothing wrong with what he did, in a position of no power I would do something of that caliber and I beleive so would most people. That just goes to show that he isn't better than everybody else so he can more properly represent them.

Totally off topic but this thread reminded me of that time when Cretian was attacked by that guy in his house...lol

Does anyone remember that?

The guy broke in with a knife and old man Cretian cuffed him in the ear and he ran off...

I'm still laughing about that...

lonestar, you'll be disapointed to learn that the Canadian liberal party is actually quite centrist.

The NDP, who Olivia Chow is a member of, is far more to the left than they are.

Liberal party members often criticize the NDP for their leftist ways, and this is an example of that in action.

I'm glad to hear you're now revelling in people getting in shit for harassing lefties.

IMO the Conservatives, Liberals and New Democrats ? could be "best described as left, more left and most left," relative to America's Republicans and Democrats.

So yes I enjoy that Canada's Liberal party(Commies Lite) are attacking the NDP (Commies.)

Uh huh.

So then, could you explain to me what it is about the Conservatives that you find to be leftist.

Or do you actually know anything about their policies at all?

Also, do you understand the difference between one guy posting a juvenile insult in his personal blog, and a party attacking another party?

Why do you keep posting out of context shit about Canadian politics? It seems like you're really fucking angry at Canadians for some reason... Also, I've never once seen you write anything more than a couple sentences at a time. Do you have any ideas or opinions of your own? When you think about stuff, do you have to turn on the TV so that something is actually going through your head?

You seem to be angry.

I admit that Canadian politics are new to me, but I am interested in this election. I will be rooting for the conservatives.(left lite)
and even if they win I seriously doubt they will  roll back Universal heath care or your tough gun control laws.

I would like to see a better relationship between us, (states-Canada) then we had with the Liberals/Paul Martin.

Again, what is it about their policies that makes you call them "left lite"?

IMO real conservatives would not support that.

They don't support it, actually.

But they probably wouldn't eliminate it right away, because it's not something you can do overnight, and no matter what your beliefs are, you can't implement them willy-nilly when it goes against the opinion of the majority.

It takes compromise by both sides to have a healthy relationship.

wow - you seriously know little about Canadian politics. You see the word "liberal" in your daily intake of internet news headlines and get all excited not knowing that it means something else up north.

Actually the Conservatives are quietly backing the "two-tiered" system of health care, one public and shitty for poor folk, that is covered by taxes, and another that is private, and for pay by individual or insurance.

The pro's and con's of a system like this is another entire thread, so I won't get into it...other then to say that I believe it would surely lead to a system that mirrors the American one in the long run...

The conservatives in our country could be seen as liberal compared to the American liberals, so I sort of see how lonestar would look at them as "liberal-lite"...

Our conservatives realize that our public will not stand for a highly conservative agenda, so they are forced to be this way for now.  However I think that if they had the reins, then they would push for a more conservative platform then they are currently campaigning on...

But thank god, I can't see them gaining a majority in Parliament anytime soon...

I like a minority liberal government myself, it keeps the libs in check to have the extra opposition, yet Harper and his boys don't have the strength to act strongly on terrible things...like the U.S "missile shield"...

There really isn't a whole lot policy wise seperating the Liberals and Conservatives in my opinion.

Day Care
Gay Marriage Vote (which will never be overturned on a free vote anyways)

Everything else to me is just slight variations on how to approach tax cuts to crime prevention.

Even if the Conservatives win they'll end up with a minority government which will prevent them from implementing any of these 'boogey man' policies intent destroying our social structure.

And there is no way that the Conservatives or any other party would scrap Healthcare.

The conservatives aren't posing they're evolving to better represent their constituents. They're in a transition from abortion and morality to taxes and jobs.
