not a cake expert but if you dont have pins by now.. i would say IMO you wont have any mushies to try till around new years.. i would say around 5-10 days once you start to see the knots forming till harvest.

yea there isnt really a way to get em faster , other then just letting nature take it's course cold shocking may get you a better yield but would delay the time that it would take to get pins ime

There has been debate by some, but in my and MANY other shroomerites opinions, cold shocking does NOTHING. As long as your fruiting temps are good and you are providing some light, humidity and alot of FAE, you should do well.

2 days isn't long. Patience man!

yeah i havent coldshocked it and probably wont but my temps are anywhere from 71-81 ranging throughout the day, and i have it sitting by my window so it gets light from the time the sun goes down to the time it comes up, in whatever order it happens... lol. should i mist though, i have the perlite layer, and theres condensation, but i dont know what the RH is.

I've done cakes both cold shocked and not, dunked in both situations. From what I've found, they both took about two weeks to pin. And from what I've read, with Cubensis anyway, cold shocking does nothing. Patience my friend and the fungus will come!

To answer your original question, there is nothing you can do to speed up the process. There is however, lots of things you can do to slow down the process, cold shocking being one of them. I doubt they'll be ready anytime during your christmas break if your luck is anything like mine. It seems everytime I have some vacation time off, I get a beautiful flush the day I have to go back to work.
