I often hear people talk about tryptamine visuals as being 'round and organic'. What does this mean?!

take a bunch of tryptamines, then take a bunch of phenethylamines and see the difference for yourself

Well actually this is why I made this post. When Iam on phenethylamines my vision just seems to pulsate rapidly, a little bit like seeing footage of a glaring computer screen on TV and causes everything to look sharper as it does so. I don't see any of the wonderful flowing/morphing that I get from shrooms. I don't particually enjoy these type of visuals which phens produce. They are quite different to mushrooms. Does anyone else get this?

Sounds like you know exactly what round and organic means in reference to tryptamine visuals.
On a side note, I have heard lsd produces more straight, jagged, mathematical visuals than the "round, organic" visuals of mushrooms.

I guess he has his concept of it and is asking for other opinions.
errr.. can't really help ya tho. It's been a while since I've shroomed, lately I've just been an acid fiend (yet another category 'ergoline', or is it classed as a tryptamine, fuck i dont know anything).
And well I guess the visuals have a different 'flavour' but I find that more or less they have the same reoccuring themes. Such as the flower of life pattern (I always see it) and tracers. Flat surfaces gaining depth. Textures becoming more 'texureier'. colour amplification, all that.
For lack of a better word it seems acid is more 'crisp' whereas mushrooms have more of a flow, as does acid but that's a 'crispy flow'
what i mean by flow i guess is there seems to be a thickness in the visuals, as if being submerged into a thick liquid.
hmm.. this is just silly to try to describe, but Im sure most ppl definitely experience a difference between acid and shrooms, and then again with the phens. Bottom line is YES every substance has it's own signature flavour. As you have noticed yourself

Phens are more ancient human, like native american designs, impressionist texturing, celtic woven lines and mushrooms are more organic/paisly/fractal and they get wilder with size and proportion. Esp. w/mescaline visauls are more 'conventional' like in a painting, and shrooms are more insane and twisty. Probobly also more rounded and goopity.

In the most general sense, tryptamines cause more of a "kaleidoscope" effect than the phenethylamines.

divided_sky and land_crab hit it right on the money; fractals.
Shrooms & acid produce primarily fractal designs. They are very mathematical and coordinated and phens are often non-symetrical.

I find mushrooms to be cartoonish and flowy, everything seems to be smooth and groovy, round and organic as in everything takes on this Earthy feel, it seems like everything is free flowing like a stream of some sort. LSD on the other hand seems like laser beams of color are melting everything. Everything in my visual field becomes twisted and jagged as well as swirly with pointed edges. Thats what I think it means.

I'd say the visuals from LSD are more cartoonish and surreal and the visuals from mushrooms are more hyperreal and animated. Shrooms are less euclidean, and yes more flowing and breathing on shrooms but more melting and ripples on acid.
I see things turn into kaleidoscopes like just completely multifaceted on LSD but never on mushrooms, the visuals on mushrooms are more beautiful and alien and more perspective-based if that makes sense. The open eyes visuals on mushrooms are more spontaneous and apparitional, the colors glow more.
