thats the one i was thinking about getting.
or the 1820. i'm not sure if i need that much though. i kind of would like to have a mic preamp though and i don't think the 1212 has one.
was it easy to setup and how is the included software?

hey look, TUBE! tube tube tube tube tube tube tube!!!!
to prove the point, we even show tubes in the background.
Years ago, they made real tubes. Im willing to bet if you open that preamp up, they will have 2 tiny crap tubes.
I have worked with enough Behringer equipment I could be a dealer. It has a lifetime of about 15 months. Their rack gear, 2 yrs, maybe. Also, why would you drop that much money on one mic pre when you could buy the Behringer Eurodesk?
a little 12x2 mixing desk... 80 bucks brand new. with this you can record drums, use real rack effects, EQ, as well as have stereo channels, and 4 preamps which if you took the pepsi challenge vs the Tube pre you wouldnt tell the difference.

I think that card looks pretty nice..... 4 inputs isn't bad as long as you can simultaneously record on all of them..... The only downside is you don't have any XLR inputs. I personally go with the Roland Portable studio.... I love being able to take it wherever I want and record things such as drums which I can't do in my apartment.... then take the recording home with me and record the less noisy tracks in my apartment.....
With the speakers I always run out of my soundcard to an amp then into some monitors.

I use these: http://www.krksys.com/v3/rokit_rp8.asp
I don't care what kind of tubes they use (it's a 12AX7 vacuum tube) as long as it sounds good and it really does!
I don't need a mixer anytime soon and I could buy this from someone, unused, for a really good price

NICE dude, the 1820 is on my xmas list along with Sirius radio or 5.1 .... EMU is very solid, I bet you'll be pleased.
those monitors are sweet too. I just got a raise at work and new speaker monitors are at the top of MY list.
How was the install/drivers? experience so far? What'd you have before?
What SW are you using for recording?

a quick and short reply only because I'm in a hurry...
-install was pretty easy. The mixing unit (software where you can see what channels are used and where you can add effects etc) takes a little time to figure out.
Before this I had an Creative Audigy 2 and I can definitely hear an improvement in sound quality (with the audigy I had to split a single mini jack to 2 1/4" jacks for the monitor speakers-->poor mans solution ) This card has 1/4" jack outputs and inputs
I'm in the process of learning Cubase (SX). Have nice books on it to help me
