My modified air pump.

This is a standard aquarium air pump. I removed the rubber bottom and sealed a filter in its place.

my air pump was a tetra tek one. Not the smallest but the one above that. It has some cotton on the botton where the air intake is to prevent dust from going in. I just cut a micron magic filter disk and taped it over the hole. Its works great. Maybe I'll post a picture later.

I didn't see an air intake. I assumed the air came in through the interface of the rubber cover and the unit. Did you place a hole in the rubber cover?

I put mine inside a box in a clean place, but then i use a filter in the tubbing. Well, here's my tubbing setup, valve, filter and dif. stone.

MAIA
Where did you get the filter on your airpump. Is that a standard pet supply thing.
Also, is there a method of mechanically sucking the CO2 from the bottom of the aquarium. If I pump air into the aquarium, how do I get rid of the bad gas??
Thanks
Bob

hey man, my cat uses a small, suspended fan in the terrerium to circulate fresh and old air and remove some air as well since its a positive pressure system (air being forced in by the pump) and its lid is not airtight.

check the thread Amazon casings ****UPDATED ####**** in pictures.

peace, ar393 and cat.

You could buy another airpump, connect tubing to the
air intake and put the tube in the bottom of your terrarium.
Just hook the pump up to a timer to switch it on every now
and then. No more fanning/vacuming whatever.

A fully automated terrarium is pretty cool.

Where i live they have it on any pet store, ask for an air filter attachable to air pump tubbing.

no i didn't. The cover was one piece that doesn't allow air in, and on the bottom there was adefinate air intake with cotton or somethingin there to prevent dust from going in. I'll post pic for you when I get some batteries

that's a huge airstone. how many liters of air does your pump do an hour? I didn't thik the valve was necesary because it was just in a cup of water and I have several feet of tubing. Do you suggest I get one?
