 I amreally confused about my casing. please help

ok a few days ago i had an issue with my casing getting to moist. i ended up raising the temp in the room some and opening the door on the front of my greenhouse to help dry it out some. well it seems that all of my effort was in vain because the growth on top of the hpoo looked all flat like it had died. so in a desperate attempt to save it i covered it back up with foil and raised the temp in the room to like 85 and left it like that for a couple of days. i just pulled the foil off and there is like new growth over some of the old looking stuff. but i am not sure if the old stuff is dead or not because it is still white looking. it just doesn't look like it used to. now my main concern is that the new stuff is more fluffy looking than the old stuff. can anyone tell me if this casing can be saved or if i am screwed? thanks in advance.

hmmm. i'd say leave it uncovered in a cooler, less damp environment for a while, and be patient. Aim for about 70 - 72 degrees and about 80% - 90% humidity... a casing can tolerate lower humidity for longer periods of time than a cake. All you can really do is try to provide this type of environment, give enough air exchange, and keep your fingers crossed. Don't mess with it too much, and try to optimize the environment... just let it fruit, that's all it really wants to do anyway.

Yep. Has the myc. overlayed? and is the new fluffy growth pure white. If so, you're good. I put my casings in an empty tub, mist once or twice at first, then just fan. That makes me at about 85% rH.
But yeah, just let it fruit, which it will, even if it comes from the sides and bottom.

ok the myc has overlayed. i looked at some pics to verify. i went ahead and scraped it abit to help it along. i have4 it in my fruiting chamber at about 71 degrees. i will see what happens in about a week ^_^ thanks peeps
