I just put the tray in the kitchen sink and let the faucet gently run overnight. Allow the tray to fill up and slowly run over. Use a rock or other heavy object to hold the substrate from floating. The running water will prevent bacterial buildup during the dunk.

Thanks..or i was just going to mist it lightly a few times daily..will this work? i think i read that it will work almsot just as good as a full 12 hour dunk

Misting will not give the same benefit as dunking. Dunking provides hydration to the entire substrate, whereas misting only penetrates the exposed portion of the substrate. The amount of misting needed to equal one dunk would probably empty 2-3 bottles, depending on their size of course.

So would you rather dunk the casing or waste time spraying 2-3 bottles empty for the same result? A 12 hour dunk is what you need, if in fact you need it. A good casing should not require dunking. Dunking usually stems from a poor first flush or someone reading about it but not knowing the applicability. If you have a good first flush you shouldn't need to dunk at all.

i dont actually dunk the whole casing, you can just dunk the cakes prior to putting the casing layer over them.

then mist lightly.

I just got through with my first flush off a casing and i just filled the container the casing was in with enough water to make the casing float a bit. Then let its set for about 12 hours and 48 hours later its got more pins forming than it did off the first flush. I also mixed in a bit of peroxide with the water, for good measure.

you should consider rolling those cakes and adding more verm on the bottom and top of those cakes for the next flush. you'll see pins all over the cakes instead of just the bottom. but looks like your doin' pretty good overall for your first time. congrats.
