Why does poo sweat dark-brown during colonization?
    #5009104 - 12/03/05 02:03 AM (18 years, 3 months ago)

Why does poo sweat a dark brown liquid (not myc. piss) during it's colonization if the water level is correct?

Does it try to minimize water loss by excreting into a reservoir and creating the right water level content within the poo for max colonization?

Is it a darkened mycelial waste?

Or is it just poo juice with nowhere else to go other than pool up on the surface...

YES

It is pushing out excess nitrates & waste.

Agreed. Metabolytes are crystal clear when secreted by the mycelium, but can be darkened by whatever substrate they're in contact with. It's similar to how red dirt makes red mud, even though the rainwater is clear.

would it be wiser to just leave it alone or soak it up with a sterile cloth?

Under his instruction, I taped drumsticks to his head and turned him into a sort of mummy, or perhaps a caterpiller in a cocoon. He remains this way for about three hours, making bizarre noises, pretending to be a new species that must learn to walk and talk and eat, etc. And he communicates with other life forms by way of the antennae on his head. Eventually we jam a tube from a waterbong into it's mouth and figure he's learned all he needs to know.

You might not like this, but analysis of manure-grown cubensis mushrooms have shown high levels of urea in them (pee).  Maybe that is what it is.  Nothing like a good swig of horse piss to get you off!

Urea isn't too bad for you
Just waste nitrogen so you will either use it to make new amino acids or just pee it out
