Basket demolished at local disc golf course

Someone else that runs tourneys around here took this picture at the course not too long ago at one of the tourneys they were holding. When I had discovered it a few days before this photo the large section of tree laying next to the whole had dropped right smack on top of the basket. It snapped off the rotting tree you see in the background. I had expected the whole tree would topple over from the ground because of all the heavy wind storms we were having. It stood its ground for a good while but that top section just couldn't hang. Of course out of all the ways it could fall it had to drop dead on the basket. You can see the damage it did. Hopefully the park will have a new basket in for the start of next year's season.

You cared enough to post a reply! Hopefully you'll crawl back into whatever shithole you crawled out of and not tarnish our existence with your unwelcome presence again

Disc golf. Same as golf but you use discs instead of balls, and your arm instead of a club. You tee off and throw the disc into that basket with the least amount of throws possible. Much more fun than ball golf. I've missed at least 4 aces on this hole. Hit the chains once, the basket twice, and top of the sign holder once.

Frisbee golf is tight. Nothing like roaming around a secluded wooded course, throwing some frisbee's around with a few friends. Drinking, and smoking at your leasure. Its a lazy mans sport.

Frisbee is a brandname of the Wham-O company. Disc golf is the same as "frisbee golf". Disc golf is the correct name. The sizes of discs used for disc golf are regulated by the PDGA. You can use whatever disc (or Frisbee) you want while playing recreational DG. For PDGA sanctioned events all discs used must be PDGA approved.
They are essentially the same thing, different names. You use discs for disc golf though, not Frisbees. Frisbees are used for ultimate, freestyle, dog catching, etc.

hmm, well I went to a disc golf course, and they had baskets with tremendously large openings on the rim around the bottom in which all of our discs could pass through. Would that mean somethings not standard about the baskets?
Is the basket you showed in your previous post standard?

Most baskets you find at courses nationwide are PDGA approved. They have certain standards that manufacturers must follow in order to have their product approved. All baskets I've ever played on have had openings that weren't large enough for a regular DG disc to pass through. Not all courses have PDGA approved baskets, though. Some have tone-poles, some just have objects that are used as targets, and some use poor quality home made baskets.
Tone pole, or Tube Tone

Thanks. Disc golf is a very simple but very fun and rewarding sport. It's very inexpensive to begin playing, and everyone knows how to throw a disc! It's also one of the fastest growing sports in the world. One thing I like about it, compared with ball golf, is not having to "terraform" large tracts of land to create a course. The courses are made to mesh with the nature that surrounds them. That's one of the reasons I would like to become a professional disc golf course designer. I love disc golf and I love nature, and they go hand in hand!

To the dude, no offense but the lame frisbee golf you played in high school is not disc golf!!! Do a little research, its the sport for folks like us, plus theres no restrictions i.e, age, weight, height, anythign, as long as you can navigate the course. Plus, the folks are very cool in general, not the snobs golf has. Get a disc, hit a course, meet the locals, smoke out, repeat!
