I got up at 8 this morning and went to check on my gear and I found a chemical fucking intruder! I think...and it had to be on Little Sister: the cake with the two decent goddamned pins already. (Check red circles.)
A quick search of the forum led me to a bit of advice: swab the tinted area with a Qtip, if the shit wiped off it was a contaminant; if not it was bruising. So I think, "Word." and swab the shit, sterile Qtip and all. It doesn't come off, easily. I tried gently removing the offender, and a microchunklet or two adhered to the swab. Then I rubbed a bit harder and I disturbed the mycelium in that area.
So I figure, lets kill this thing.
I made a solution of 20 parts water to 1 part Hyd. Peroxide and lightly swabbed it on the infected area for a few minutes.
I then proceded to sterilize/alcohol wipe a makeshift miniterrarium out of a clear tea jug, hook it up with some moist perlite, and quarantine Little Sister to her own chamber.
As for Big Brother: he's doing alright.
But it's funny, his mycelium lumps are much larger than Little Sisters, but his pins are tiny in comparison to hers, whats the deal with that mess?
He's showing no sign of contamination and neither is my casing, thank christ.
Oh and PF Jar D: KIA (developed contam during dunk). I don't call this a real loss considering I was running out of room for my cakes within my terrarium. I'll just take a mycelium sample (for LC) from the best performing cake/casing in the group.

how fucked are you, hmmm...depends on how many bitches are trying to take a ride on the mitch express, lol.
it just looks like some minor bruising to me with a little verm sticking out. when you do the q-tip test just a lite touch is all that is necessary, you probably scrubbed hard enough to get something from the myc. go easy..

I noticed some of that stuff circled in green, on little sister, on one of my cakes too. Backupwards, so what do you suggest that is?

If it's just brusing (nothing harmful/contagious), then I'm set. But I'm not trying to ruin my casing or other cake.
So I'll leave Little Sister alone until she behaves like a lady.
I don't even remember handling my cakes at all, I usually lift by the lid/base, but I'm not the most gentle person either.
If it is bruising, about how long will it last?

It appears to be an abhort to me.Is it solid white? I have seen abhorts manifesting themselves as little balls of mycelium.Almost like sclerotia.Let us know what happens!

I was referring to the green circle: looked funky, but a bunch of folks said its bruising.
The shit in the red circles are pins.
