That big tree there on the right side looks like its got wood chippings around it, looks like some good habitate as well. Anything magic grow out of woodchips down there in florida??

That's interesting GG.Those lawns are made up of St.Augustinegrass,a warm-season grass that's popular in Florida and other warm climates. It goes dormant in cooler areas, but probably stays green year-round in most of Fla.Is this the only type of turf that you find this species in? I'm guessing the mushrooms are growing from the thatch.St. Aug. is notorious for heavy thatch build-up at times.
Or maybe these yards have been aerated or power raked recently to remove the top layer of thatch,in turn causing the mushrooms to start fruiting. That would be some interesting info to have.It might help narrow down which lawns are the most likely candidates to produce this species.
Are you sure these are pan casters and not some new pan species? I mean, they do fit the description for that mushie, but I was still just wondering about that.
Panaeolus GGreatOneifolius.Has a nice ring to it,doesn't it ; )...hehehe...
As usual, awesome, fuckin', like they came straight oughta National Geographic pictures, you have there GG.
Don't stop showing us pics of these, they're cool looking mushrooms.

Hello cardboard,

Yes these grow on peoples lawns.
-It amazing me too..every time i think about it.

So they are indeed wild shrooms, but then again;
-They have essentially been "cultivated", outdoors,
by the guys who lay down the manure/compost/soil,
then they lay down the Sod.
And good sprinkler systems watering them daily.

+++As opposed to the rugged habitat of cow manure-shrooms (Copelandia&Cubensis).
Copes and cubes habitat of "manure" is much less of a
"cultivation". Thats all wild :)

-The kindness of Pan caster certainly becomes much clearer after ingestion =)

Anyways,
We found three more specimens yesterday and
ill post a picture of them soon.

Later,
GG

Hey doo,

Yep these lawns stay green all year round.
-They have sprinkler systems rigged to the entire neighborhood.

Well, at least the neighborhood i find the most of them in.
-I have also found them in somewhat older neighborhood lawns also.
--All maintained nicely though. And all lawns having sprinklers.

And yes this is the only type of lawn that i have found them in.

And yes it seems that they do grow from the "thatch"..

They are potent as i have mentioned,
and i ate 6 of them last night,
had a mild but great trip.

Am i sure they are Pan casters??
- - I'm relatively certain, yes.
As you will see in harvest photos soon to come;
The overall appearance of this mushroom,,
seems to change almost every time i have found them.
But when i see them and pick them i just know they are
all the same, Panaeolus castaneifolius.

Prints are available,
PM me.

Happy Holidayz,
GG

damn GG...nice

up here in tampa bay i have looked around lawns several times, but i dont usually go looking just for casters. looks like i might start. i may go down to the rich neighborhood a few blocks from here and check it out over here.

yea, every lawn has that grass on it down here. its very strong and spreads everywhere.
