Some people seem to think they have a more open mind than others but most of these people only have a more open mind to popular culture they arent way out there, i have yet to hear an original thought here at the shroomery and no useful original thought is going to come from someone who is gullable and so tangled up in societies ways. The fact many talk about the earth cleansing itself by killing millions of people bothers me, it seems to be a popular thought at the moment, its where societies at now.Its not a thought any of you come up with but many of you have jumped on the band wagon. So all i want to really say is- come up with your own ideas or just tell me what episodes of star trek I missed or what tool album i need to get

Need I remind you almost no idea is new. Need I remind you that ideas are expressed to be reflected upon or to bring people to the same conclusion. Need I remind you that most of us are here to exchange information with people of like minds? Need I also remind you than when an idea feels true and resonates within somebody they are prone to embrace it regardless of who said it first or how many people are in agreeance? To me it seems that the only oppinion that you would respect would unfounded and have no basis in reality, and the only idea you would accept would be coming from an ascetic hermit deep insid e a long forgotten forest. vivid

Exactly... thinking for yourself doesn't necessarily mean creating orignal ideas. Missulena, it sounds to me that you like to be different for the sake of being different... I may be wrong, but I know people like this, and if someone they don't like agrees with their opinion, they'll change their opinion. So who exactly is closed-minded here? I can understand your disgust with people that believe something solely based on someone else's ideas... but I think this place, if any, has a majority of free-thinking visitors. I love you all

Truly...there is no such thing as a totally unique or original idea in today's society. To expect people to not think or speak without having something original to say is nonsense. Worse, to be angry when they don't do so is nonsense. What ever happened to the free exchange of ideas and expressing what you feel?

I only know whats best for me whether what that leads to makes me different from others i wouldnt know but one thing i place high value on is original thoughts and theories. I dont worry about trying to look the part with body piercings or fashion or anything like that i just enjoy trying to come up with or hearing peoples original ideas thats all.

Alot of people without ideas often comment that its impossible to have an original thought but they dont just speak for themselves they take it upon themselves to speak for everyone but its not true for everyone, with the right mind there is almost a limitless amount of possibilities.

Alot of people without ideas pick apart others because they have none of there own.

Indeed. I despise the ignorance of the general population. However, people who only repeat what they hear without understanding tend to figure out what they are saying after a time (whether being forced into a two-party discussion because of mentioning it to the wrong person or through repitition). I am more for the the pursuit of intelligence and understanding new ideas than I am into insisting on only hearing original thought.
