I was reading up on religion, and was looking at some pictures. I would like to explore the culture. I want to see the nature there too. I wonder if its expensive to go there?

ah yes. I kind of have the same thing going for me. Except i really want to go to Asia. I believe ill be going there with my family (japan) in a few months. I then want to cut off and just go my own way. Explore/discover.
India would be tight, I'm just not sure how safe it would be. Look into it.

Asia. Definatly. I bet japanese cities are fun, it looks like it.
Ive only ever been to Korea for a month. Its amazing there, the culture, the people, the language. Ive always wanted to go to North Korea or the border where north and south meet. I was reading about a small tour that goes through North Korea, I bet its not a normal thing, but still that would kick ass.

My roomate in highschool was Korean so I went to his house for spring break. That was the first time I rode on a plane, wow. I got insane jet lag and was all fucked up for a couple days when I got to Korea.

well, it depends what you want to do while there.
if you want to lay on nice beaches, stay in beautiful hotels, eat in 5 star restaurants, etc - you'll be able to do so, quite cheaply.
if you want to experience what globalization has done to the 3rd world, you'll be able to do so.
most westerners who go to india tend to only do the former. i guess it is fun and all, but for me, travelling should be more about seeing things for what they are than just having a pleasurable time.
also there are a lot of places (dharmsala, for example) where you could go and volunteer as a teacher, in exchange for a place to stay.
all in all, i find the country to be beautiful and enriched in culture, albeit very troubled...

goa is a fully commercialized tourist attraction place. It used to be the homeland of the hippies who traveled from the western world to india. It was good back in the day I supppose but not now. So many other places to discover in India...

I will be there sooner or later. Id like to study and absorb some of the culture. Goa is an old schoole hippy destination from back in the early 60's still has that life style and open trade markets. Cheap to live and travel. Id buy a motorcycle when i get there.
