a friend has eq, popcorn, spawned to store bought cow compost (the brand is garden basics {black bag, anyone everuse this stuff with success ?}from wal mart i think, cased 50/50+ , put into grow chamber 10 days ago no pins ? digi hygrometer reads 99% rH, temp 76 . used small loaf pans (aluminum) in large rubbermade containers. perlite with water on bottom. air exchange every 4 hours. couple questions. can he mist the casing without hurting the myc ? also does not believe digi. no condensation on walls of chammber, and on two of the pans in one chammber 3 mushrooms grew and no fluffy myc at there base. also thinks maybe substrate didnt 100% colonize (maybe 90%) could this be reason ? any feedback or help would be great. thank you.

have never tried the stuff you are talking about but i have never heard anything good about the store bought composts. you may just be getting all it has to offer.
10 days may just not be a long enough time to wait for them either. keep them misting lightly and from a distance and give them some more time.

thanks. came from work to find 2 fully developed (very tall and very skinny no real color in caps as compared to other eq's) . you think it might be the store bought? (that sucks) where could i get good poo? horse? or cow? i see other people use horse. thank you

check the yellow pages for stables or riding clubs, i am sure they would let you come and take what you need.
you probably even have some locals near you that would do the same. take a ride and see if you come across any horses and stop and ask for some poo to add to your garden.
