Horse Poo White mold

I am trying to dry out some horse poo, which is in the green house and when I looked at it today, there was some white fungus mold on it. Will I still be able to pasteurize it even though this white fuzzy stuff it on it? Also can I just leave it in the green house for a week then pasteurize it I mean it doesn?t have to be 100% dry does it because it?s never going to be 100% dry
Thanks for the help

Do you wait till the poo is 100% dry before you pasteurize it? How long do you leave fresh poo before you start the pasteurize process?

Ok well if its white im assuming its good to go. Make sure it dosent smell at all like piss. If it does then leach it. The REASON for drying from what i read on this fourm is to stop activity of the microrganizms for storage. If your just gonna be using it right away then pasturize away and just wait to be impressed by tha shit

Not all of it is white, just bits of it are a white fuzz mold. This White fuzz will spread all over it because there is no way that this shit is ever going to be 100% Dry because it is outside in the humid air.

maybe tempeh would be a better metaphor, for a number of reasons.

ahhhhh so the poo is kinda fermenting into a great lump of goodness, so I can then pasteurize then use a spawn. Would I be right in thinking then that the longer I leave it the better it will become?

not really fermenting. its like moving into someones house, eating them and their food, and using their cookware.

I know why poo is better than grain, I just wanted to know what the white crap was groing on the poo. and if I really had to wait till the poo was 100% dry befor I could use it.

Understood sir, I was acctually trying to find you this post that I read like a month or more ago. It went into detail as to why poo makes such a good substrate. Alot has to do with the dead organisms like the fire fang. That are eaisly digested by the mycellium and provide amino acids (digested from proteins). And such.. of course you would be best to read the origonal. I was unsucessfull finding it sorry man.

What I would do is spread it out as thin as you can on a tarp. Fan dry it with a box fan on high for 24 hours. Then use a garden rake to mix it all up, spread it thinly again and fan dry another 24 hours. It will be as dry as you need it.

Thanks for all your replies, much appreciated I took a pic of the poo, this is what it looks like. It doesn?t smell at all, nothing no piss nothing. Should I what till the entire poo is covered with this white stuff or just start using it when I?m ready to do some pasteurizing
Thanks again.

thats what I was wondering too. Is it worth cultivating it especially. It is called firefang because it can cause spontaneous combustion! dont think it an issue for small growers though. Here is some on my cow poo, the myc seems to like it.
