* Habitat;found on clear cut vancouver island lots of wood decomposing debre
* Characteristics of the gills;light brown attached
* Characteristics of the stem;4 inch, 2-4 mm solid white brown
* Characteristics of the cap;1/4 ,1 inch med brown to light brown closer to edge conical convex
* Spore print; color choc brown maybe purplish
* Color that the mushroom bruises;dark brown
* Scent of the mushroom;sharp strong
i found these today on a walk in the woods,i am trying to educate myself on the local mushrooms ,there are so many on this island,thank you if you can help me

Good description, thanks for taking the time to check how to do it! :thumbup: :rockon:

Although the caps strongly resemble azurescens, the habitat and stem color/bruising color are a dead giveaway that their not.  I believe Azures grow only to the bottom of washington and south along the coastline, in dune grasses. Azures also have a solid white stem, bruising a strong blue color.  (atleast thats what cyans do and they're very similar)

I know someone who has found Psilocybe Cyanescens in washington along a clearcut. So you might like to do some research on that species and keep an eye out.

They also grow in the cities(parks and landscaping around buildings), and neighborhoods. Look for alder woodchips, they're the light colored hardwood. Cyans love that stuff.
