Shiitake Spawn Run
    #4839529 - 10/22/05 09:49 PM (18 years, 5 months ago)

Where do you guys put your sawdust blocks during the spawn run? I only have one mini-greenhouse and it's being used by my oyster grow.

I'm trying to figure out how to keep the blocks at 90% humidity for 30-90 days at the right temps and with no light. Could I set them in a rubbermaid bin and mist the inside every few days to keep the humidity up?

why do you want your spawn to run in darkness? i have mine set in bags upwright in regular lighting under shadings. seems to spawn great. i also have a small opening that is plugged with tightly wade cotton and the a small square of newspaper wrapped on top of that tied down with rubber bands. this will help with humidity ..as i said i am using bags.

They're in sealed bags right? Put 'em somewhere dark and they should be fine, the moisture in the bags should do it.

Yep, sealed bags w/ a filter patch. I'll do that.
