green mold
    #4838288 - 10/22/05 02:43 PM (18 years, 5 months ago)

i found green mold in the corner of an otherwise very healthy casing. i cut out that corner of it and while i know this will most likely not stop the mold could it slow it enough to fruit since i already have knotting all over?

By the time you seen green, it's already got a foothole. It's network is established, if it's warm enough, try it outside!

when you throw it out, make sure you do it away from your other casings/jars because mold spores will go everytwhere

As i was throwing it out i discovered that half the casing was %100 healthy and it was in fact just that part of it that was infected and i guess thats why the straw in that area was also uncolonized. i have a feeling that i could have fruited the casing and yielded some healthy ones but i dont want to take any chances at all. next time im going to use the same 28gal tubs but im going to do several smaller casings in tupperwares so that if one goes down the rest may be saved. that really sucked just now having to throw out like 15 lbs of colonized poop and straw, next time im going to take every precaution in sterilization. hard lesson learned.

I had the same problem, just a corner had the mold or so I thought. I cut the casing in half and tossed the bad into the bushes beside my home. (I live in the country.) Took the "good" side back to my fc and actually got a half dozen big Orissas off of it but while waiting for the 2nd flush the mold was back with a vengeance. I had to toss everything including the perlite, then scrub the FCC, before putting my next casing in.

This is just a suggestion, I knock up a jar when my first casing just starts out. That way the jar, will be ready to be cased after I've had 3 flushes from my previous casing. (for some reason my jars take a while to get to the birthing stage.) And if the casing gets contammed in the process, I only have to wait a week or so before I can case another jar. So far I have only had 1 out of 6 contammed casings.

Just food for thought, I am just a student.

you might get a few fruits off it.

if you have a spare fruiting chamber...you might consider isolating this casing from your other ones.

next time!~

I have cut out the green .You need to do a large area. That shit moves fast but I was able to get fruits so I could have spore of that strain.
