Finch seed. Steep or not?

For every tek that says do it one says don't bother. Which is best in your view? It swells up so how much dry per quart? Can I get an answer on this pls?

I posted up on the other board about birseed, and bluemeanie suggested to stepp for 4 hours.... If you have a nice birdeed tek, do me a flavor and post it either on your thread, or mine :)

ok dudes this is in the wrong forum for starters, and if you guys would just try it both ways you will find wich you like.
my freinds that swing in the trees, use 1 cup of white millet/qt.
jar, then they steep it ( steeping is bringing to a boil then turn the heat almost off) for about an hour more or less you'll know when its ready cause some of the grain will open up.
then they put it in a big strainer and strain off all the water. then into the jars. if you use more than about a cup of seed
you wont be able to shake em. Buy White millet from the grain elevator 50lb bag approx 6-8 bucks does a lot of jars !
I ain't answering this question anymore ! do a search this has been rehashed many, many times
later

I've tried steeping and not steeping and it didn't make a whole lot of difference. I'll go for the faster, easier way myself :p.
