no no no, forget 3D studio max, if you're looking for 3D design and animation Maya is the only way to go, it's the industry's standard.

I happen to like Lightwave...., just try them all, and settle for the one that works for you. I hear Softimage and Cinema4d are pretty good too.. And then there is of course pov-ray

Well I really liked the one with the sun and the golden water.

Here is a URL for my site and all of my Amanita art created in Photoshop 5.5 and Kais Power Tools and 3D-Max.

If you like that filter("flood"), you can get it at>http://flamingpear.com/download.html
. They have 2 weeks trial. If you will like them, PM me and I'll send you the keygenerator for most of their plug-ins.

usually a mix of 3DSMAX and it's many filter programs, Character Studio, Lightwave, Maya and Softimage are used together on animated films ... 3DSMAX and Softimage are most often used on videogames, 3ds for the little cut-scenes and softimage for the game itself ... they are all nice little programs, provided you have the ENDLESS money required for the programs, the teaching and the powerhouse computer/render farm (eek) ... but if you have all of that and a good creative mind you will most likely never leave your room, creating completely new dimsensions ... ya thats fun

when i first started 3d work i got a student bundle of Ray Dream Studio 5, Painter 3D, Poser 3D and Bryce 3 ... those were the days ... i used to endlessly create shit, and i was working on this long movie in which all the kids and teachers in my school were replaced with little legos and they had a giant war inside this kids room, that was fun as hell ...

...

till i realized that with the "power" my computer has it would probably take roughly 5 consecutive years of rendering to produce a 640x480 sized version of it ... :frown: ... oh well ... i got some fancy screenshots out of it which are now long gone but i plan on one day redoing it, that was fun as hell ...

definitely... kazaa/morpheus has the new photoshop available, and if you can't connect to those (ie. if you're living in the dorms i am and they blocked access) you can always try mirc and/or navigatin' some ftps.

Those are filesharing programs where you connect to other
peoples computers and share files with them.
You probably heard of Napster, this works the same from a
user perspektive, tough the networks today have no central
server that coordinates everything.

Kaaza is supposedly shut down but there are plenty of other options.

Just go to download.com, it will be in the top 5 for sure. I think it's called 'Music City Morpheus' or something like that.
