inoculation begins tommorow

This is my first grow, thank you to everyone who has helped me get up to this point. Let me review some of the things before i start.
Can i use polyfill for a BRF/Verm 1/2 pint jar or does a lose lid work better?
How many holes should i make in each jar?
Are there any easy methods to powderize Brown rice if i dont have a coffe grinder? I have a blender but im not sure if that would get the right consistency.
Any helpfull suggestions would be very much appreciated I will post a grow log aswell to show my results.

you can use a mortar and pestle to grind down the brown rice....as for holes in the lid use 4, one in each "corner" of the lid...use a little bit of solution in each hole to have more initial growth points. as for the tyvek, cant help ya, dont have any experience with it.

Are you asking if you can use polfill for PCing or to put in the holes post-inoculation?

Do some more research. I read for over 6 weeks, 6-8 hours a day everyday before I started....Jumping into it without knowledgable backround will probabaly lead to contams which are discouraging...

Oh trust me ive read alot, i assume that i could just poke 2 holes and tape it up with a lose lid and rap the top in foil but theirs got to be a better way, Dont you have an answer? Asking the knowledgeable people is a form of research

State your questions again that you need answers for. "how many holes" has been answered "air exchange via polfill and/or dry verm layer and no polyfill" - has been answered. ............................???

Do i add tape? If i do then no air exchange, if i use a loose lid do i turn it upside down every so often? that will introduce contams and make foil senseless, im just trying to better grasp this... I have done plenty of reserch i guess im just panicky in my confidence because tommorow is inocculation day... Im sure everyone doesnt want to fuck up thier first time right?

As long as you have a dry verm layer on top of your substrate, you don't need tape or foil (will restrict air exchange). The dry verm layer contains no nutrients and acts as a contam barrier.

Oh, and if you don't have a dry verm layer, polyfill can be stuffed in your inoculation/air exchnage holes as a contam barrier while still allowing gas exchange. as for turning your jars upside down, this is down when the lower portion of your substrate does not colonize due to c02 sinking.
