n00b grower, first cake Update (pins!) /w pic

This is my first birthed cake, been in my fruiter (PmP) for about a week. It looks all cottony...is this normal? It started to look like this maybe last friday a bit, and when I came home from a long weekend (Canadian Thanksgiving) it looked like this (pic is from this morning)



Also, I used the dunk and roll tek, and the cottony stuff has overtaken the verm that was stuck to the side in some areas...is this normal/to be expected?

Oct. 12/05: I got pins hurrah!



Soooooo happy. Will these bad boys be ready to eat by Saturday maybe?

I'll post again when they've matured a bit!

Any/all advice appreciated!

Everything ios going good my friend! Ill give it no more than 2 days (just a guess) before you see pins but its doing exactly what its suppose to.

Yea that cottony growth should start to knot up and begin pinning. Good call on the dunk and roll..in my experience it has helpped alot in forming nice colonies of pin clusters.

Yup. This is my first time doing it but i dunk and rolled and double end cased i got a good pinset w/ fattie pins :wink:

Oh wow. Thanks so much. I feel so relieved to have read your guys' replies. I've read/studied enough on these boards (before I even started posting) to have noticed that the advice given is almost always sound. So I'm happy that I seem to have done things right.

The part that makes me the most happy is the 12 jars and casing in the works dying to go in. I've never learned so much from one place on the net.

Yah, I'm almost positive I did. I'm being a lot more patient with the remainders, and his other 4 buddies had stalled so it seemed like he was cool. I think he was a little dehydrated too, but I've since remedied the BRF reciple I use.

I'll post pics when I start to see pins. I can't wait!
