Fuzzy Mycelial growth on my cakes... Doesn't Belon

Fuzzy Mycelial growth on my cakes... Doesn't Belong.

Hey All!!!

Wow! Judging by all of the posts it has been a busy weekend around here, I hope thats a GOOD THING! LOL! If my post has been asked by someone else please just point me in the right direction as I am at work and don't have time to read thru the posts today, and no puter at home... Enough Small talk, as I am perplexed.

I have a 20 gallon aquarium set up FULL of cakes and a 6x8 casing.
Drip shield is in place, a florescent uv light is set up on a digital timer to
come on twice a day for an hour.

Humidity is fed via an inch of soaked perlite with heat coming from a 5x10
strip of heat tape duct taped to the bottom, in the middle.

Cakes are half pints ( went in BEFORE pinning ) that have been colonizing for a month. They were fully colonized after 3 weeks, and left in the jars an additional week.

Cakes are also double cased via Pf tek double casing tek.
They are a brilliant white.

My Problem:

Unfortunately, the cakes are beggining to grow fuzzy mycelium on the sides.
Which is odd, considering I have two cakes from the same batch not only pinning
in single cake terrariums on my fridge, but doing MIGHTY well. These cakes were not cased and have no mycelial " fuzzies " on them...

Pinning looks like it is just around the corner, but I am worried about the fuzzy myceliam growth. It does not appear to be a mold of any kind, growth seems to be uniform throughout all of my baby cakes in the terrarium, so I must have the growing conditions wrong.

And, I have not as of yet purchased a damn temerature strip or hygrometer
for this setup. Stupid, stupid, stupid. I thought that I could recreate the conditions my other two cakes are having cause they are thriving!! The mushies are growing over an inch a day! WAY more than an inch a day.

Anybody has any ideas, please shoot. I have PLENTY of cakes and terrariums all set up behind these, almost ready to go. But I need to figure out what I am doing wrong, so I don't do it again!!

Peace out all!

For Christ`s sake, get to the point. We don't need your life story! Now, what is the problem? Twenty words or less.

LOLOLOL!!

Can always count on you puscle!

My cakes are cased and growing fuzzy mycelium on the outsides.
Is this a problem with temp/humidity?

If so, should I go up or down?

Thanks man, I know I am longwinded, can't help it :(
Friends call me mouth. * grin ! *

In my expierience using an ultrasonic humidifier, I found that too much warm humidity caused my cakes to get fuzzy. Now, using perlite, my terrarium is at 74 degrees and plenty humid and no fuzzy cakes. So, I guess what I'm saying is, get rid of the heat in the perlite and let the ambient room temperature do the job.....?

Of course, of the two of us who've answered you, Puscle is definitely the one who knows what he's talking about.....

Thanks man!

I appreciate the post though! Yea, I scooted my butt over to mycotopia to ask the same question.

I asked hippie ( moderator over there ) about it and he to says it's fine.

So between two people I really look up to ( not that your not a great guy or anything Necron! * grin * ) I think I am ok.

He basically told me what puscle said... It's fine :)

Thanks for the input necron!
And thanks again to puscle who instead of ignoring
my novel like posts asked me to break it down, I did, and he answered my question fully.

Puscle, My thanks is so great, i'll tell you the same thing I told hippie, From now on when people talk shitr about you, I'm gonna leave the room!!! ;) THATS how much I like ya!
Thanks guys!!
