Need this identified.

There is a mulch pile in front of my house that have been springing up white mushrooms for the past year now. I see it every day and have grown more and more curious on whether or not they are alright to eat. Yesterday there was only a cluster of 4, I picked one for pictures.

I believe it is a Pluteus of some sort but I'm not sure which one

my guess would be a type of Lepiota.

i could be wrong tho.

Itis a Lepiota.It is probably Lepiota cepaestipes, Onion stalked Lepiota. It is pretty common on leaf piles, sometimes it is on stumps that are well rotted. It ussually grows in clusters.

Thanks for the identification. I looked it up and it seems you are probably right, it does look like Lepiota cepaestipes

Here are 2 poor quality pictures I took months ago at the mulch pile.





I take it it they aren't safe to eat...
