hehe OK, this is my kinda post!
oDin and I were hiking around the Lower Two Medicine Lake in Glacier NP last Wednesday. On the north side we saw no SCAT, but little critters movement in the grass, and a chipmunk on a tree. But then when we headed around the south side we started seeing lots of "stuff" some large some small, but lots of it. We also saw some crazy sun stuff, due to a controlled burn. I have included a couple of pics of both, but the one I want guesses on is OBVIOUS! hehe enjoy and see you in the woods.
Have a great weekend folks!

That is a great locale.
I was there three summers ago on an eight day excursion with a few others, and we camped near there for two nights. It rained and snowed, but it was lovely none the less.
One of the days out there myself and a friend split a ten strip and hiked to the top of this mountain, and boy was it great. Lots of streams and waterfalls, and redrock and whatnot.
Whoo hoo!

Hmmmm, no one else playing in our scat game. I guess I'll take another guess.
It just doesn't seem right to see that much grass in a bears diet, especially this time of year when they are trying to fatten up for winter, but what the hell...bear.
Its obviously a large animal.

What'd I win?!
I didn't think bears would eat that much grass. But I guess you have to remember that they are an omnivore, just like humans. They will eat just about anything.

I was waiting for more guesses, since this forum is a bit slow, however....
it is bear, and we saw two specimens of bear scat that day. The first was more granola looking with bearries (hehe) in it, and then this grassy, sticky stuff. We saw this same type of bear scat in NM and couldn't figure it out, since we too thought it should look a little more diverse. It is LARGE tho, and you wonder if who left it is still around.
Elk scat looks like big dear pebbles btw.
Congrats TTS on your guess.
