Pressure Cooker

I pressured cooked my jars two days ago..... and when I went to try and open it just now the damn thing wouldnt open....should I heat up again then try it....has this happened to any body else...I already tried a hammer but I dont want to break it...when is it safe to open it

Try to push down on the lid while you twist it open. Heating it again probably won't help.

This is more of a thought for future use, i spread vaseline around the inside lip to help with the lid coming off after PCing.
Do you have a flathead screwdriver to wedge in there, then hit that with a hammer?

hmmm philly around with it a little bit. lol maybe a rubber mallet and lightly tapping the handle to loosen it a bit. lightly now.

hmmmm......idk do you have a rubber mallet? give it a shot, but do it lightly so you don't break off your handle.

I already did break the handle Its not totally fucked is it. I mean the handel broke in two places so I glued it back together. If its not totally fucked then I will be going to go to home depot and get a rubber mallet

idk if the handles are part of the locking mechanism for the pc or not, have never used one. if it is part of the lock then it is done for, if not then try the rubber mallet and just tap it lightly in the right direction. best of luck

well I broke both the handles off now...and it still wont budge!!!! I have tried everything....this sucks.... anybody want a pressure cooker 14 grain jars inside lol...guess I will be making a trip to wally world for one of those chepo PC's

fill your sink with ice, and water, and let sit, maybe it will contract enough to get loose, next pc, be sure and keep the seal lubed.
