Another new psylocibe at my lawn (pics) ID Help
    #473285 - 11/29/01 05:47 AM (22 years, 3 months ago)

It happened again, It's probably incative i know (as allways :( ). I also found something not psilocybe, it's the first mushroom from left to right, any clue on what it is ? Some sort of Gymnopilus maybe ?
Well, second shroom (from left to right) is one of my lattest find Ps. Merdaria, then #3 and #4 are two new psilocybes specie i was talking about and #5 is a Ps. Coprophila.
The new specie was printed yesterday and has black spores, stem is white (Merdaria is yelowish and Coprophila is brownish). I'll take some pics of spore print later, any idea on what it is ?
Thanks.

Peace,
MAIA

The first one looks very Gym like. What color is the cap flesh? Should be yellow, and the smell should be anise like.

Cheers

Spore prints, from left to right, the two new psilocybes, a bad sporulation from the Ps. Coprophila and the Ps. Merdaria spore print.

The possible Gyms, they are yellow inside,

Some bonus pics of psilocybes, first pic are (possibly) Coprophilas in early stage growing from a horse dung pattie.

A pretty specimen of Ps. Merdaria

Now, this is what i call a spore deposit, this two prints were taken from a single cap of Ps. Merdaria, only wish cubies could sporulate allways like this.

Any help IDing those gyms would be nice!!!

Peace,
MAIA

Beautiful pics! Those are definitely spectabilis...may have been reclassified junionus...nice, I can almost smell them. They are a very nice mellow experience as well.

Great finds. Cheers

Although Paul stamets refered to several species of sropharia as Psilocybe, your unidentified Psilocybes are Stropharias and not Psilocybes since no published papers has named them as Psilocybes. The Coprhila and Mederia are correct as is the Laughing Gym.

And only the laughing gym is entheogenic. the others contain no hallucinogenic indoles

Nice photos

AT LAST I FOUND SOMETHING ACTIVE, HHUURRRAAAAYYY!!!
Interesting, my quest was pointing to Psilocybes but nature wanted it to be Gymnopolus.
What i wanted to know is the dosage of this laughing gyms, also, can they be eaten fresh ?

Thanks to you all!!!!   and mj , thanks, didn't know about that Stropharia issue.

Hi Airdog, Laura-Guzm?n-Davalos and Guzm?n reported Gymnopilus subpurpuratus from Mexico in 1991 and in 1995.

I have the paper somewhere but my boxes still need to be unpacked and put back into a filing cabinet.

Have a shroomy day.

Mj.

As noted previously, Gymnopilus species are most bitter and are always only tasted once and not really consumed for activity due to the unpleasant taste of this genera.

I have only known two people who ate them and they told me, "never again."
