Penguin Dream

I had a dream the other night that I had a pet penguin, but he was a small fairy penguin, the kind that live in the warm water off Australia. He insisted on riding on top of my head every where we went, but if we swam, he would lean over my head, kinda bad cuz I couldn't really see. In this dream I really loved my little penguin and then I had to give him away because he was dying, he had to go back home. It was a dream, and I've felt sad all day over the loss of my non-existent penguin buddy. This isn't the first time I've dreamt of penguins either....

hmmm why are you not on msn???
anyways, here's the story... as i think i've already told you my parents got divorced when i was 6 and i decided to stay with my dad in ecuador while my mom returned to germany to live here... now the hardest thing of this divorce was the fact that i would only see my mom for 4 to 6 weeks in a year during vacation... when i was about 10 years old my mom bought a plush penguin for me... there is this german company called "steiff" that makes beutiful plush animals that look so real... and well they are quite expensive... but my mom said my eyes were glowing when i saw that little penguin so she had to buy it... and my mom and i made a pact that the penguin would spend 1 year with me, i would bring it back to germany and then the penguin would spend 1 year with her and i would take it back to ecuador on the next vacation... now back then it was only a little pact we had but a few years ago we found out that penguins alternate each other when raising their youngsters... when the egg is conceived the dad leaves for 1 month (penguins breed inland far away from the shore where they are safe from predators) to get food and comes back almost exactly when the baby is born... then the dad takes care of the baby and the mom goes all the way to the shore and comes back with more food... and well this was quite an analogy for what was happening in our family and the fact that the penguin alternated between germany and ecuador was pretty weird... it got even weirder when a friend of mine decided to give me the nickname penguin (in german it's pinguin --- ingo, pingo, pinguin)... and the funniest thing is the kids at the place where i did my social service also started calling me pinguin without even knowing that someone already had given me that nickname... so that's why i identify so much with that little creatures... and well just 2 weeks ago was my mom's birthday and i took her to see "the march of the penguins"... which was perfect because now i am moving away from stuttgart where i have stayed close to her for 6 years and i'm going to cologne to start studying and basically start my own life... the weirdest thing was that at the end of that movie all of the young penguins go into the water without their parents and start their independency... hope you liked my little story...

*note to self*: chicks dig penguins. --
my g/f has a minor obsession with penguins... several of her female friends love them, too. screw the stuffed teddy bear on v-day... go with the penguin.
i have a minor obsession w/ penguin clothing... I own about 8 shirts w/ a penguin on them.
sorry to hear of your pseudo-loss, gil... maybe you'll dream he came back to you tonight.
