Massive Gymno in Maryland

I have been watching this mushroom for a while but just realized it could be a gym. It was completely brown over the summer but just recently started to get this white stuff on it. The habitat of the mushroom is self-explanitory. You can see the size of it by noticing
the water bottle in the corner of the third picture. It's quite large. Anyway, if I could just get any feedback on this mushroom whatsoever, i.e. why it's turning white, if it can be saved if rotten, and most importantly... if edible. Thanks.

Location: Maryland, growing on a tree facing a some-what main road.

that is not a Gymnopilus.

it's probably a type of Polypore.
