Storage - Freezing

Forget drying and forget that damn dehydrator...;)
I've posted before about how dry can make trips slighly different (in theory ok, lol,)...So anyways, I just heard about a guy that puts them in the freezer... , Never thought about that before lol.
So it made me think, What would this do to any of the chemicals present? Pysiobyin(sp?) starts to oxyodize almost immediatly...But I was curious as to whether or not any would continue to break down at freezing temps...
TIA

if you freeze mushies, they turn into black goo when you take them out.

The only way you can freeze them is freeze drying. So if you get yourself some Liquid Nitrogen, dip the mushies in that, then freeze them, youd be ok.

Thats bullshit we used to freeze shrooms we had picked all the time They dont turn black at all, they do lose a lot of potency but that was the way we did them because we were dummys and didnt know you could dry them

They do too... When the water in the mushie freezes the ice that forms in the cells is very sharp, it rips thecell walls open. Its called science, not speculation.

This is true. The cell walls of previously frozen mushrooms will collapse once thawed, and the end result is goo.

So how does that break down psilocybin. Kinda sounds like putting them in the blender or chewing them up to me. Just less of a hassle lol

On a side note: Grind your completely dried mushrooms to a powder, pack them in a glass jar, and store in the freezer. Several people have reported potency retained after 5 years this way.

I don't see how they would break down psilocybin. I'm just saying your mushies would be goo. To my knowledge though, cold does not effect psilocybin.

Frozen mushrooms turn into goo...thats the first step in the extraction process to get all the juices from shrooms, all you do is freeze and strain....turns them to goo.

i think the best way of storing them would be in a vaccum chamber.. just so happens that the foodsaver (vaccum bag food sealer thing) has an attachment that will seal jars by sucking out all the air!! what better way could there possibly be?

I was trying to avoid grinding them into powder...
Simly b/c certain chemicals are lose due to the fact that it oxidizes...=/
Oh well..lol
Guess I'll just dose high with dry lol.
Thankx everyone

you can cold dry mushrooms at refrigerator temps with a desiccant and lose little to no psilocin content, just takes a while and desiccants are not cheap

Gnostic's whole point is that he finds a different high from fresh/dry shrooms, preferring the fresh ones. So will frozen fresh shrooms give the same effect? So what if they turn to goo, eat them while they are still frozen, dice them up frozen, they will defrost inside you the gooiness should make them quicker to digest. Or just add them to soup. I find drying a pain, especially larger grows. If you were to liquidise a large batch of fresh shrooms you could even freeze them in ice cube bags, for easy dosing. But liquidising will turn them all blue which maybe bad.

In my experience, as soon as frozen shrooms come out of the freezer, the now broken open cell structure immediately exposes the psylocibin to air resulting in oxidation and the extreme blue/blackening of the mushrooms, as well as going to a gooey mess. I find drying them cracker dry and grinding to a fine powder results in very little potency loss, esp when put in gelatine capsules and kept in the fridge in an airtight container with desiccant (ordianry uncooked rice works well as a desiccant).
