Castro parades doctors ready for Katrina aid Fidel Castro, the Cuban president
The US has not responded to Castro's medical help offer September 05, 2005, 05:45
Fidel Castro, the Cuban president, put on display some 1 500 doctors equipped with medical supplies yesterday in hopes of persuading arch-enemy, the US, to allow them to treat victims of Hurricane Katrina.
Castro, in a televised meeting with the doctors, said the US had not responded to his offer to send medical workers and 26 tonnes of supplies to the devastated US Gulf Coast. Castro first made the offer public during a television presentation on Friday, saying political enmity should be put aside during such a crisis.
The doctors, each with a green rucksack filled with emergency medicines, were brought to Havana over the weekend, Castro said, and were ready to leave at a moment's notice. Castro read out news stories describing a lack of medical attention for Katrina refugees and those still trapped in Louisiana and Mississippi a week after the storm hit. "Forty-eight hours have passed and we still haven't received any response to our offer ... We will wait patiently as many days as are necessary," said Castro.

If this is true, why is our government putting politics in front of needed medical help?

Top ten things we don't need
1) Commie doctors trained in a third world nation to replace our top-quality doctors trained in the USA
2-10) 1)
-------------------- "Men trained in arms from their infancy, and animated by the love of liberty, will afford neither a cheap or easy conquest." From the Declaration of the Continental Congress "We can have peace and security only as long as we band together to preserve that most priceless possession, our inheritance of European blood." Charles A. Lindbergh,"Aviation, Geography, and Race", Reader's Digest, Nov. 1939 "We must secure the existance of our people and a future for White children." David Lane

Cuban physicians are quite experienced in disaster relief - look into how they helped with the tsunami vicitims last winter as well as other natural disasters.
There is a dire need for medical help - it is childish and petty and lethal to deny it due to political differences. Are you blind to the crisis we are facing? If we didnt need help, then why are we accepting it from other nations? And who said anything about replacing US doctors? The Cuban physicians would be a much needed addition.

Cuban cigars suck now. In south America I got my hand on a box, not that good. Macanudo is the sheezizzbazzizzle.

You can't cross the border these post 9/11 days with anything other than a clean record...
And that's what I got, anything other than a clean record.
And yes, they said specifically for me to not try to come again, until I apply for reconsideration at the Canadian embassy, 5 years after any criminal conviction has passed..

I said Canada, but it probably works the other way too.
How they know is they pull your record while-u-wait in an immigration building.

You know what's funny? If the U.S. did accept the Cuba doctors, I'll bet most of them would seek asylum and want to stay.

Aside Cubas' offer, Castro evacuated 1.6 million Cubans in hurricane Ivan with few deaths. I think the US should take notes.

There's certainly a lot to be said for the effectiveness of forced evacuation by a totalitarian state. "Get on the bus or we will shoot." They can certainly perform some functions more effectively. Hitler did get the trains to run on time after all. Pick your poison. I 've picked mine.

The police where I am were given emergency powers during a fire that burned down hundreds of homes. Meaning they could enter all homes to forcibly evacuate residents. They applied the use of that force in the worst affected zones so the casualty rate was low. You'd be surprised how indignant old fart gits are who think they can take on a firestorm. Fortuneatly for them, their families and friends, the police were legally able to drag them out of there, or they'd be dead. Australia is not a totalitarian state.

They offer it full well knowing it will never be taken. It is a publicity stunt to tickle the minds of communist-apologetics, and you have taken the bait.
Sure, Castra cares.
