Responsibility & Accountability

Those are foreign words nowadays with no meaning.
When I ran a manufacturing production line with some 50 employees, if we failed to meet deadlines, it was my responsibility. Didn't matter that vendors were late on their deliveries or that some employees were sick or that vital equipment broke down. It was my job to be ready for glitches. I accepted that and prepared and did whatever was necessary to work around roadblocks. END OF FUCKING STORY!
Not any more. No one seems to take any responsibility whatsoever. Excuses, excuses, excuses...

The fall of personal accountability parallels the decline of this great nation. We are seeing the benefits of womb to tomb socialism.

It's socialism to fund levees that can save the lives of thousands of people when a natural disaster comes barreling into a big city, silly. That's the impression I'm getting from everyone who still refuses the Bush administration is at any fault, in any aspect of this.

Who actually is responcible to upkeep and maintain the leevee's in the first place is the first question I would ask.
Is it the City of NO the state of LO or the Feds?
If the City or state (which can't afford it with their revenues) turns the feds for assistant and they say, "Sorry, we don't have the money to give" Then the city and state are still responcible to care for it.
If thats how it is, and if the Feds turned me down, I would seek the assistance of the private sector and if that failed, next to foriegn investors in exchange for something the city or state could offer.
Foriegn investors taking over here and there little by little isn't an ideal.
What is the city to do? The tax revenues of LO just are not there. If the Federal Government offered to assist, allotted a budget and then slashed it, they can. The ultimate responcibility first lays on the city if it wants to remain a dry city.
Why didn't they have plan B, C, and D lined up in case the feds bailed on them?
If the city can't afford to take care of the city and the state can't and the Feds can't then maybe NO shouldn't be a city below sea level anymore.

Perhaps it won't be by the time we drain it and deal with the ruined husks of the houses. It's going to be interesting to see if people just rebuild in the exact same spots until the next category 4 or 5 comes along, or whether they wisen up a bit and rebuild on higher ground..

Shit man, we have a few months left of the worst hurricane season recorded. I wonder if they'll rebuild in time for the next one this season. Then O'reilly could just reply this footage and go on vacation.

Maybe they didn't own cars or didn't have money for gas, or no where to go? Who knows, don't assume you understand a persons reasoning. Don't SOME of them deserve the benefit of the doubt that they couldn't leave?

The litigious nature of modern society is digraceful. This is a problem that is not exclusive to the welfare state, but has seeded itself in the minds of every westerner. I can not be held accountable for my actions, the responsibility lies somewhere else. Disgusting!

yes its disgusting but just like Afoaf said earlier some heads should roll, I really hope someone is held accountable but we know it will be a scapegoat situation once again
