All American Pressure Cooker question..

The only thing I read the difference about the All American? 921 21.5 Quart Pressure Cooker/Canner and the All American? 921 25 Quart Pressure Cooker/Canner is that the 25 Quart holds more water. Is more water better? Or should I just buy the 21.5 Quart Pressure Cooker?
-Thanks

It is when you're actually cooking
I mean if you're using a pressure cooker to make stews, PC meats or other tasty delights, larger is better.
It really a matter of taste. (no pun intended).
For mushroom growers, you just really need to know how many jars will fit into each model.
Good Luck, Lana

Exactly!~
there is no difference in the jar holding capacity.
just in the amount of liquid they will hold.
but the prices are way different!~
Get the AA921 and save some $$$$
tc
*edit*
one is the 921 and the other is the 925 by the way.

AA PC maximum capacity is designed for pint or quart mason type canning jars.
Half gallon jars come in a LOT of differing shapes (height - width) . So, it would depend on the shape of the jar.
BUT - using any half gallon jars - IS LIKE TRYING TO FIT A SQUARE PEG - INTO A ROUND HOLE.
If you are looking for maximum volume, use quart canning jars. You can attain even more volume with filter/patch autoclave bags.

This one fits 9 half gallon jars but you'd have a problem on a electric stovetop with this one believe me!
It will actually PC my 921 with the handles removed!
Either unit will only require enough water to cover the rack or slightly more I personally will always go for as big as I can afford just like a garage it's never big enough depending of course on how serious you get with this awesome hobby! BTW bags are the Word! GL

How do you deal with this problem as I will soon be using a 941 ?
Peace,Love,Happiness and Harmony. Hippie Chick
Right now my stove can handle a 10 gallon pot filled 3/4 with poo. About 40 pounds. How heavy is that with 19 quarts in it ?

Turkey fryer works great OD of course. I also have used hotplates (two 750 watts) that are the same height. I ruined the stove top on the wife's electric stove you see it's not only the weight you have to worry about but also the radiant heat over the large area. The heat can't escape and causes the stove top to warp down although it came back nicely the enamel didn't fair as well BTW you can use the fryer indoors as long as you have real good ventilation.

Right now my stove can handle a 10 gallon pot filled 3/4 with poo. About 40 pounds. How heavy is that with 19 quarts in it ?
I have Kaden models 641 G-CD - same as hyphae. They are a AA 941 Sterilizer with a different manufactures tag on it. They weighs about 38 lbs empty (each). Loaded full, they weight about 76 - 80 lbs each.
Most stove top burners are not designed to take that weight, as it will crush the burner element down.
Even if they will take the weight, the radiant heat will scorch the porcelain - when you do 120 (or more) minute PC runs.
you can go to Lowe's, Home Depot, or any wood stove place & buy the smallest piece of fire board insulation (like they put behind or under a wood stove).
Then - cut several narrow strips to set around the stove top burner, so the PC touches the element, but all the weight is distributed more evenly - around the burner - instead of directly on it.
You can also go to any decent welding shop, buy a short length 1/2 inch angle iron, use a hack saw to cut a few short lengths & do the same as above, with the angle iron situated like this ^.
Alternatively, you can buy either a lab hot plate, or a single burner commercial restaurant grade hot plate to use on a counter top.
The legs screw off the 2nd one.
Again, get a piece of fire-board insulation to set on top the Formica counter top, otherwise you will scorch it. These hot plates are not designed to take 80 lbs of weight - either.
So, again, go to a wood stove place (or where-ever) & buy 8 THIN wood stove liner, or fire place liner bricks to set around the hot plate, so the PC touches the element, but the weight is carried by the fire bricks.
