1 oz of fresh Pan subbs (PICS!)
    #4512658 - 08/08/05 11:14 PM (18 years, 7 months ago)

Been raining here every day for the past week so I decided to check my subb patch.

Here's what I picked today:

Grams:

Ounces:

Found these growing in Georgia from a grass compost pile. Found roughly the same amount yesterday.

Nice ones.. that whole pile would only be a lower level trip, which is why subbs are cool but some people don't like them. I really need to get out there today, I am going to try and find a ride later this afternoon.

beautiful subbs, what substrate you find them on. look thick and healthy like the ones I get. Ive really come to like the subb trip its more mellower than cubes.

nice gumby. the only time i ever really "tripped" hard from subbs was when i ate 90 fresh. they have always been a really low level trip otherwise. enjoy those with some good mild grooves.

They surprise me sometimes. I think it has A LOT to do with when you pick em. Sometimes I will eat 8 grams and be dissappointed. But then like last weekend I ate 5 grams dry to just chill and relax, and I ended up tripping WAY harder than I thought. But these ones I have been watching grow and pick right when they are about 4 inches tall and an inch to 2 wide cap.

5 Grams literally almost had me at ego loss. I was to the point ( about two hours into it) where absolutely nothing made sense and colors were just pouring out of everywhere like waterfalls ( in the daylight might I add) I was extremely surprised.

Those are some meaty subbs. I wish the ones I found were that meaty, but my substrate isn't as good as yours probably.

Have you any observations on the correlation between substrate and potency?

Pann subbs. usually display a reddish tinted stem and it is uncommon for them to stain blue.

they are the best! I took some tea with me to a swamp the other day. mmmmmm. Among other reasons why I think they are the best, they are more visual than cubes. The perfect trip.

I think I read somewhere that they are more or less potent depending on if they're grown in grass or manure.

I tripped off 1.3g of dried subbs. It was a low level trip but lots of times thats what I'm looking for and I would easily compare it to 1g of dried cubies. I'm also more sensitive to than most mostly because I make alot of physical and mental preperations. Only taken them once though (subbalteatus that is) so I cant be sure but that looks like a good dose to me.

^^^>>>"Wow...yea, I have a horse pasture chuck full of mushrooms at this very moment. I guess i'll have to look differently than I did before (Looking for them to stain blue, and then go on from there to the more specific identification rhoutes.)."<<<

I've never seen them stain blue but I usually dont look. It'll be subtle if not at all.
I've never really had a problem telling them apart from foes but some other lookalikes gave me some trouble. Stem is the best way to tell them apart at first glance. Foes are much whiter.

they come in many shades, shapes, and sizes. Search for images of them and internalize their looks. then you'll know what to grab when you're picking- and all you have to do is print them when you return. A great place to looks is rotting bales of straw/hay. some of these will have some grassy and weedy things growing out of them. search in the shady areas of the bale- under the weeds or hidden in the back or especially any area that is shaded by a tarp. I would look a day after a good rain. spring and fall are probably better than summer- but I'm not so sure about that since there ahve been many posts from georgia this summer.

The biggest giveaway for me is the twisty stem. I found a nice little troop of em yesterday on a cow paddy. Took me by suprise; the whole field was pretty much desolate except for a few cubes, one of my "mystery" Psilocybes, and that troop. Ive only ever found ~5 Panaeolus subbalteatus in cow pastures before now.
