Pictures from my trip to Iceland
    #4501213 - 08/05/05 06:44 PM (18 years, 7 months ago)

Ok so I'm back, here's some photos:

Reykjavik

Main Church in Reykjavik

Leifur Erikson, man who discovered North America 300 years before Christopher Columbus, also my distant cousin.

Viking Troll

Camping

Thingvellir, oldest Parliment in the world.
This photo shows the continental divide between Europe and North America.

Gullfoss (Gold Falls)

Strompur, a small Geysir.

A neat hiking area, Landmanlegar:

and finally my sisters husband in Canada who came to visit for the first time bought an authentic hand made viking helmet circa 900 ad.

Awesome pictures.. the continental divide and the gold falls look frickin sweet.  And the church.

And the steak. :drooling:

The rooves are pretty colors in the first picture.  Sweet pics.  So that helmet is 1100 years old?  How much did it cost?

Heh sorry its a replica, the guy who makes them is one of the few in the nordic countries making authentic viking gear, swords, helmets, etc.. The helmet my bro in law bought cost him about $1200 USD, I figure it could sell for prob $2000 as this craftsman makes only a handfull a year.

Greenland is actually the "frozen wasteland",  Iceland is very pretty.  I think I remember hearing that the people that founded Iceland and greenland wanted to keep Iceland for themselves so they misslabled it or something.

But anyways awsome pics.  I think Im going early next spring.
