a different view on alien abductions
    #4486349 - 08/02/05 05:24 PM (18 years, 7 months ago)

..let's not discuss wheather they exist or not, let's assume they do..
If you don't believe in them, imagine that there was some superior alien race that performed all kinds of painfull experiments on us.

Accoarding to your standard of morality, would it be immoral to abduct people from their beds and homes and dril their teeth, stick probes in their asses, leave tracing implants etc. ?

Before you think about it, I'd like to remind you that we do these things to our animals for "their own good", even though they are frigtened and are in pain.

There's a difference between humans and the lower animals.

When you lead a cow to slaughter, it will happy follow even while surrounded by the blood, entrails, and carcass of the cows that went before. It's unable to make the intellectual leap connecting dead cows to itself and so isn't afraid. Indeed, from all appearances, the very concept of death is beyond its comprehension.

Even in the case of experimental animals, all they feel is the immediate pain or discomfort of the experiment. They don't suffer from the psychological issues of contemplating their upcoming mortality.

Enter the human and none of the above applies.

Republican Values:

1) You can't get married to your spouse who is the same sex as you.
2) You can't have an abortion no matter how much you don't want a child.
3) You can't have a certain plant in your possession or you'll get locked up with a rapist and a murderer.

4) We need a smaller, less-intrusive government.

That is much assumptions about lower animals. But even what you say is true, then it's less complex animals and less complex damage, more complex animals, more complex damage.
It's damage both ways.
An in times of the deed, both of us are the same, a human if fear is no different from any lower animal. It is its instinctive state. Emotion is emotion, and physical pain is physical pain.

We take these animals, and sacrifise the confort of one of them to learn of them, so we can help ALL of them in some way.
If those beings were planing to alter our genom to change the way our history develops, would It justify for totally screwing lives of individuals driven to psychosis?

Your ego is assuming that these "aliens" are not your superior.

What you just said can apply to us, relative to them.

Maybe they do... But considering how many view such events and things, what if these 'distinguished' people are afraid of losing their status if they were to talk?

Because crewing up hillibillies leaves less damage in our society.
Will history change if you crew up some american redneck that lives in a trailor? nope. Would it change if you crew up a president? It might
