i read a post a while ago that said you could water that horse poo had been soaking in to use in your jars. i was wondering if anyone had tried this, how you did it, and what kinda results you got. also is the poo still good to use for spawning, etc.?

I've used h poo tea to soak rye berries before cooking them in it. Two strains, OI and B+, one from spores and the other from liquid culture, fully colonized this very quickly, in under a week. I don't merely soak my h poo but rather pasteurize it in 165-175 degree F water for anywhere from 30-60 minutes depending on the quantity of the batch. This process creates the h poo tea that is great for subtituting for water in PF jars or grain.

I decided to switch from PF jars to rye grain as an initial growth medium because rye seems to colonize more readily than the cakes, easily breaks into hundreds of points of inoculation in the substrate, and creates a lot of spawn in relatively little time.
