Success with lavarock in PMP?

It's either order on the net, or lavarock for me. Can anyone vouch for lavarock? Does it do the trick? Is it messy? Good or Bad Alternative?

Doesn't seem like it would be messy. I would like to see some results as well.

So, usually the picture means 1000 words or whatever... But this time, it isn't really saying that much. Is it messy? Do you recommend? How does it fare as an alternative to geolite (hydroton, leca)?

Yeah hydroton is rather expensive and I might go with lavarock when I need more next time. How does it compare fufungi?

I have used it and love it. It is a little messy in a way, every time you clean your PMP there are small amounts of crushed lava rock at the bottom. But I don't have any issue giving it a quick rinse in the bathtub.
I'm PRO Lava Rock, hydroton is just to costly and expensive to ship.

I've never used anything else, so I really can't compare it to anything, but it seems to be working fine. As far as being messy, That hasn't been a problem, I just rinsed it well before the first use.

Suggest you rinse out lava rock (real well), then boil it. Then use it. It works.

I must have gotten the filthiest lava rock in town when I bought mine. It was a PITA to clean and it was very heavy. I liked perlite much better, but I'm sure many would disagree.
I'd recommend finding smaller sized lava rocks (if possible) and grabbing the cleanest looking bag the store has if you go the lava rock route.
