Ever had a dream, played a videogame, or had an experience that caused you to get a very powerful sense of scale? In other words, has anything made you feel extremely far away, or extremely deep, or given you a feeling of the enormity of the universe, the world, your body, or some other frame of reference? I would rank that feeling among the most powerful I have ever experienced. I want to feel it. I used to have dreams as a child that I was split in two pieces, and both halves were far far apart, stuck wayyy up in the sky, powerless to move or interact with anything. At the time it was the most uncomfortable feeling imaginable, but I always love the memory of a nightmare after it's happened.

I know what you mean. Its very interesting, how in dreams, your field of vision can be restricted to a small scalee, and then when you change dreams, its completely different.
This can happen in reality too, i think a lot of it has to do with how different scales are placed to eachother. In architecture were taught how different design elements can lead to different perceptions of space.
A thought just popped into my head. I think of mesa verde... Looking out over the canyon, and seeing the sky, and the ground that leads up to it, and the expansive horizon, and how open everything feels. Then being up in the rockies, inside the mountains, confined to the dimensions of the valley, you feel nested within the rocks.
Were you lucid in your dreams when you felt that scale change?

I was a young kid and I thought all my dreams were real life at that time.

I can remember being alone for some weeks in the desert. I hadn't seen anyone and my mind had somewhat emptied. I was standing under a full moon peeing and from the flatness of the landscape I could look out and see what appeared to be the curve of the earth. I then became aware of myself on the earth itself. It was one of the most awesome moments in my life. I felt joy and love for the earth and knew that I was very small and she was very big. Then I felt us floating and spinning in space and knew instinctively how small we were. Then I went to sleep a happy man.
