Capricorn Full Moon - June 21-22, 2005
by Stephanie Austin, M.A.

The charts for this lunation is set on the natural wheel with 0? Aries rising. All references to Sabian symbols are from Dane Rudhyar, An Astrological Mandala: The Cycle of Transformations and Its 360 Symbolic Phases, New York: Vintage Books, 1973.

This Full Moon peaks less than 24 hours after the Sun's entry into Cancer: the summer solstice (in the Northern Hemisphere). This marks the yearly shift from yang to yin, from the dominance of the solar force to the ascendancy of the lunar influence. The winter solstice, when the Sun enters Capricorn, signals the return of the light; the lengthening days draw us outward. Now, as the nights begin to grow longer, our attention and growth are directed inward, toward more subtle levels - the mystery, muse, and magic of the sacred feminine.

Cancer, the first water sign, is linked with the archetype of the Great Mother, the Cosmic Womb, the Void from which all creation emerges. From New Moon to Full to New again, form emerges, ripens, and returns to the Source. Once more, we are poised at another turning point, another opportunity to check our spiritual compass and recalibrate our course.

Sun in Cancer. Moon in Capricorn. Both Cancer and Capricorn are yin, receptive energies. In cultures and epochs that idolize yang qualities, the yin is misunderstood or ignored, at best - suppressed or eradicated, at worst. Although yang and yin are most often associated with masculine and feminine, they represent a pulsation of energy beyond gender. The rhythm of the breath provides a fitting analogy. An in-breath is no better or worse than an out-breath. Both are necessary; both are dependent on each other in the cycle of creation. The depth and duration of the out-breath depends on the quality of the in-breath. The more the feminine is denied or distorted, the more limited the expression of the masculine, and vice versa.

With the Sun in the sign ruled by the Moon and with the Moon directly opposite, the cosmic spotlight is now on the balance between the yang and yin in each of us. The Sun in Cancer sheds light on what's healthy and what's harmful. What are we breathing in? What is inspiring or enlivening us? And what is numbing or toxic? Where do we need to take a deeper breath, be more receptive, let in more fresh air and nurturance? The Moon in Capricorn is disposited by Saturn, Father Time, the Reaper, associated with the limits and consequences of physical reality. The Moon in Capricorn asks: Where do we need to be more responsible and realistic? Where do we need to exhale, release, let go of codependence - or martyrdom?

Three other planets in Cancer encourage us to examine what we are taking in and where we could be more yin, more receptive, more attuned to the messages from our feelings and surroundings. Saturn, the ruling planet of Capricorn, is in the final month of his two-year stint in Cancer, where he has been pressuring us to clear out our emotional backlog and reclaim the power of the yin. Saturn in Cancer reminds us that it's never too late to have a happy childhood, that we can re-parent our inner child and recover youthful joy and creativity. Venus and Mercury are approaching a conjunction with Saturn (exact the following weekend), counseling us to value the yin and use its power to deal with issues we've been working on since Saturn entered Cancer in June 2003.

Mars at 7? Aries widely squares the Sun and Moon, pushing us to correct what's not in balance. The God of War in Aries drives us to be daring and break new ground for ourselves. Mars, in turn, opposes Jupiter at 9? Libra, forming a wide cardinal grand cross that further energizes new perceptions, options, and alliances.

The Sabian symbols for this Full Moon emphasize that it's time for a change. For the Sun at 1? Cancer: "On a ship the sailors lower an old flag and raise a new one; a radical change of allegiance exteriorized in a symbolical act: a point of no return." And for the Moon at 1? Capricorn: "An Indian chief claims power from the assembled tribe; the power and responsibility implied in any claim for leadership." Use the power of this Full Moon to see where your devotion and duty lie. Remember: "It is who we become that changes the world, not what we do." (Sandra Ingerman)

--------------------
A plethora of music aspirations control my temptations of future revelations beyond "now". The percussion, and the heart beat of my love and devotion. The rhythm goes beyond, prying into the third eye, releasing the creativity held so far inside. The melodicies, through the out of tune pianos and broken classical guitars...there lies a beauty. A beauty as prevelent as the fire inside. To release these energies is pure ecstacy, to deveop these gifts is sacred. The vocality, so pure as can be, shying away from herself, lies within me. For the underlying serenitity, this is what I live for. I plea for harmony, and nothing more. Music equals love. Creation of love leads to the procreativity of the World, and it's spirals and puddles prevailing.

Thanks for the post. My birthday is on the 9th. I had a chart done (I discovered that daylight savings time should NOT be applied). I'll check out your link.

BTW, http://www.alabe.com/freechart/ is great for a very accurate (in my case) personalized chart. Just remember - don't figure in daylight savings time if one is born under that imposed condition.

Hmm... make sure you figure in the one hour difference in daylight savings time when you calculate your natal chart, but nevermind 2000 years of stellar drift that accounts for 30 degrees in star position errors and one and a half month's worth of zodiacal constellation registration errors.

Alright... :shake:

Republican Values:

1) You can't get married to your spouse who is the same sex as you.
2) You can't have an abortion no matter how much you don't want a child.
3) You can't have a certain plant in your possession or you'll get locked up with a rapist and a murderer.

4) We need a smaller, less-intrusive government.
