Exotic Secret Pics, Psilocybin Mycellium impeaches Bush
    #4360136 - 07/01/05 03:07 PM (18 years, 9 months ago)

ok, so i tried experimenting with rye flour as opposed to brf in pf-tek cakes. i think i fucked up the water content when mixing the substrate, the rye flour kept clumping up and it was very sticky. i did the best i could to fluff it up by adding pinches more of verm at a time... it just turned out to be messy but i made enough for 8 jars so i decided to use it anyway. when i was filling the jars the stuff just fell in clumps around itself. i did 4 more jars with brf and verm, sterilized and innoced at the same time. 3/4 brf jars are doing well after exactly 1 week, but not one rye flour jar shows any signs of life. here are some pics:

so its been a week.. any jar pictured with mycellium is brf/verm, all jars with no mycellium are rye flour/verm. anyone ever experiment with rye flour? if there was too much water to begin with (i used a 2:1:1 ratio, then added a tiny bit more verm, but it was still really sticky and clumpy. So anyone have anything to say? oh, the white film on the outside of the jars isnt anything growing on the inside, its dried lysol. i sprayed their cardboard incubator once and now any time they touch the sides of the box they get the film on them. but do u think these things have hope?

the second pic i think is probably the best one representing my problem. u can see the clumpiness, and u can see that gravity has sort of smashed the substrate on the bottom. there a couple visible drops of water in the jars, on the side mainly where the substrate is pushed flat up against the glass, but i dont see any pooling anywhere...

if there was too much water to begin with, will the jars eventually dry out to a point where the mycellium can begin to grow if i wait long enough and can hold out with out contams?

no i don't think them drying out some will help your cause. the drier those clumps get the more like a frekin rock they will be.
i would give them some more time and if you don't start to see growth, then you probably never will.
good luck
peace
