LSD trip report: Can acid trippers sense eachother?

At Bonnaroo this weekend, my girlfriend and I had our first LSD trip. It was wonderful. We only took one hit each, and we didn't trip all that hard... I got some patterning and visuals, but nothing that incredible. The main effect that characterized the trip for both of us was the sense that we could look through people's eyes right into their soul, and tell what they were thinking, feeling, posturing, fronting, just get the general vibe of anyone and everyone. This understandning came with an immense sense of sympathy, that whole "I am you and you are me" deal that acid seems to promote.
This is what shocked us so much... while we were tripping, people kept coming up to us, grinning, and giving us high fives. This happened about 4 or 5 times. The whole rest of the weekend, no one gave us a single high five, but during our trip, 5 people independently decided to do this.
We weren't acting especially exuberant during our lsd trip... to an objective observer, I think we were acting pretty high and happy the whole time, dancing in public, running around, yelling "Bonnarooooooooo!" But for some reason, while we were on LSD, people could tell.
I'm convinced they could feel our vibrations, as I had a sense that I could feel theirs. I had no doubt that these people were tripping too. Sometimes just being around someone who was neurotic, upset, angry, even though they weren't interacting with us, was enough to freak us out and make us leave. ON the flip side, just being in the vicinity of a "good", happy person filled us both with euphoria.
LSD is the shit!

Trippers can sense each other. They can see, smell, taste, hear and feel... just like sober people.
There is talk of shared hallucinations as well, but aside from being universally discussed, they has yet to be proven.
If you took acid EARLY in the weekend, you may have been getting high fives from excited 'Roo newcomers.
But, dialated pupils are a big tell.
Generally, trippers dance a bit differently too...
And, running around, yelling "Bonarooooooooooo!" is not exactly sober behavior.
Still, I think it was this: You and your gf were having a fucking GREAT time, and that is infectious. Good vibes get high fives! You can quote me on that.

Man you just gave me chills thinking back to jam shows on LSD...
People can definitely sense it. You get the warm loving smiles and, like Cervantes said, the high-fives, and it's like everyone who's tripping becomes a hub or a nexus of good vibes and you pass by, link up for a second, and then keep going...Ah man, glad you had a great time!
I like low-dose 1-hit trips like that...they're very feel-good.
-------------------- Acid doesn't give you truths; it builds machines that push the envelope of perception. Whatever revelations came to me then have dissolved like skywriting. All I really know is that those few years saddled me with a faith in the redemptive potential of the imagination which, however flat, stale and unprofitable the world seems to me now, I cannot for the life of me shake. -Erik Davis

I meant that we were behaving this way the whole time we were at bonnaroo, not just while we were dosed.

We tripped saturday, dosed an hour before Yonder Mountain String Band came on. By the time they were into their set, we were dancing like a couple of mountain people
When that show ended, we went to sonic forest and tripped out on that for a while, then went to catch O.A.R. Unfortunately that band seemed to attract a certain crowd, and the vibes proved too fratty for us to stay there longer than a couple songs. The rest of the trip we spent walking around the camping areas, alternating between exuberant childish outbursts and heavy conversation about human behavior. The trip was really all about human behavoir... we'd look at a certain person and intuit why they were acting the way they were acting.
I wonder if those underground therapists ever take the drugs with their patients... I imagine that'd help them get to the bottom of things quite quickly. We danced to widespread panic, and went to sleep before tre came on We were just too tired.

dude, i just stumbled upon your thread, i know this is 5 years late but i agree COMPLETELY! i tripped at Ultra music festival this year and though the vibes there aren't nearly as positive as those at Bonnaroo (I went this year but didn't trip) i know EXACTLY what you mean. even if someone wasn't saying or doing anything, just standing in place, you could tell whether they were happy, sad, angry, lonely, ecstatic, bored, etc etc. it's like they communicated everything about themselves, what they were feeling, their state of mind, etc just by being in my field of vision. it was the ultimate people watching experience. it was incredible.
there was one really scary part, there was a guy a couple rows ahead of me with 2 friends and all of them were tripping but at one point he looked at the birthmark on his arm and was convinced that it was growing like a flesh eating disease and completely taking over his arm. he started to FREAK OUT in a complete panic, it was horrifying to see him react like that even if it was just a couple seconds. his friends patted him on the shoulder to calm him down but just seeing him react like that scared the hell out of me.
because the crowd at Ultra has a lot of douchebags, stupid sluts, shallow people etc, it was a little overwhelming at times because these people emanate so much negativity, being judgmental, arrogance, etc. but you could see everyone's essence just by looking at them. i will never forget it and can't wait to trip at a happier, more positive festival like Coachella or Austin City limits. i think it'll be less scary and more about communal happiness!
edit: wanted to add, it was also extremely easy to tell when someone else was tripping also. something about their body language said that they were also observing everyone around them, taking it all in and thinking about what everything in their world meant. it was absolutely surreal as an experience, you'd make eye contact for just a fraction of a second and it was plain as day to know that the other person was tripping also. you could also tell that those who didn't want people to know they were tripping would look away immediately in a really uncomfortable way. acid is the ultimate people watching experience in my opinion.
