Jar Colonization Problems
    #4260174 - 06/05/05 02:36 PM (18 years, 10 months ago)

WBS is usually used soaked anywhere from 12- 24 hrs, and then sometimes simmered for 20 minutes or until grain has reached full hydration. It is then left to drain from 20-45 minutes, and then loaded into quart sized jars and pced for 60 mins. at 15psi. They are then usually left to cool overnight and then inoculated the next morning with 2ccs liquid mycelium. Most jars then takes about 2 weeks to show signs of growth then they just stall and others just never shows signs of growth. And they are being incubated at about 86-88 degrees. Have gotten beautiful fruits in the past but it just takes so long to get more cakes that it slows down the process tremendously. Someone Please Help!!!!

possibility they are too wet. are the jars slimy looking at all?
my first jars wound up too wet by only letting them drain for 20-30 mins.
peace

This last go round they drained until not even one drop of water dripped from the strainer. they've been incubating about a week and still no growth yet but still feel confident about them. I guess only time will tell

did the same the first time. then the next time after draining to that point a shook the strainer a little and then pressed down on it some and a bunch more water came out. they are still colonizing so i guess i will see.
peace
