Hey, what's up you all? I was wondering who knows what the stuff that is in those plastic grow boxes you used to be able to buy from Homestead books? Also, how did they sterilize those things?
Thanks, and good afternoon to all.
edit: changed the original question.

If you don't know exactly what the stuff was it doesn't matter, does anyone have an educated guess at least?

poo, they were compost kits. They came with 2 lil vials with seed in them. You were supposed to pc the vials just like a jar and then add some spores to the seed which wax about 1 tablespoon of seed, then use that seed to spawn the poo

No. This substrate was definately not poo. Maybe it's a different product, but this substrate more closely resembles some kind of ground up bark/wood chips or some other organic plant product. What does cubensis grow in that looks like some kind of ground up organic plant/wood material?

Don't know about those specifically, but the kit I got was rye with vermiculite casing and -amazingly stupid IMHO- a bottom casing of perlite It did yield nicely tho, I guess the casing was very well leveled...

I don't know, but it was quite a decent flush, got several trips out of it... I'd say 15-20 dry grams but it's just guessed, it was a year ago. It costed me 70?, a rip-off, but I didn't know any better. I could grow a few kgs out of 70? now But hey, it was a possitive introduction to mycology, so I'm happy I did it

Sorry to bump such an old post... but the answer is kowanite. and homestead... eh... I've had 4 casing kits from them. only 2 produced anything at all. the others were contaminated rather quickly.
