Casings, cakes, and yields (logical argument)
    #4210552 - 05/23/05 03:01 PM (18 years, 10 months ago)

Given that:

1. The yields of cakes are limited by the amount of nutrients in them
2. Casings produce flushes usually up until there is contamination
3. The casing layer contains no nutrients
4. The cakes are dunked after each flush

Then, if, hypothetically, an equal number of jars with the same substrate are used for both a casing and cakes, how would the casing produce larger yields?

Wouldn't the law of conservation of mass play some role as a paradox? Theoretically the cakes and the casings should produce equal yields.

You are forgetting one of the most important factors;

you conditions

Temperatures, rH, moisture levels come into play. So it all depends on the ability of mycellium to absorb & use nutrients...which depends on the conditions.

casing layer contains no nutes but does contain moisture which is very important

Also, shrooms are %90-%92 water. A casing supplies a lot more moisture for growth then cakes. More water, more weight.

Back from the dead eh?, and no, I'm pretty sure you can't change how a cube grows after it's mutated unless you use the Hydra Tek:shrug:
